Default I'm losing my belly fat!!!!

Thank You Thank you to all of the people who posted about weight training and low carb!

After reading on this site so many times about weight training AND cardio instead of just cardio, I started to take it seriously and since I've started weight training, I've lost 7" off my waist! I've gone from 150 to 133. At first, I was losing weight, but my clothes looked awful on me because I wasn't losing around the middle, but now since I'm weight training and following a low carb diet, my belly is melting away! I do have a cheat meal once per week though, INCLUDING dessert!

I'm so thankful that some of you have shared your tips and I would absolutely LOVE to hear more!!!

YOU ROCK! AWESOME!!! I just want to give you tons of support b/c I went through the same thing. I worked hard to get rid of that horrible belly fat, but it wouldn't budge. Then when I got on the right diet and workout program, it went away. SOME women with PCOS said very hateful things to me about posting about my weight b/c I am a thin person (just had a huge belly) but some were very supportive and nice so I just wanted to send you some support. Keep up the good work.

JATOMZMOM: Thanks so much for your support! I'm a bit confused as to why people would be unsupportive?? I, for one, have to work extremely hard to maintain a normal weight...but that doesn't mean I don't like people who don't have to work for it.

I just thought the Thin Cysters may want to see something that works! I would have loved to hear a personal success story a few months ago! In fact, I would LOVE to see some now!

I see that you are on the insulin resistance diet...can you give me some details about that? What exercise regimen do you follow?? I'm always looking for ways to improve my health and fitness! I'd love some details!

I use the book "The Insulin Resistance Diet" and it is awesome. You still get to have 30g of carbs per meal, but you have to link it with at least 15g of protein. You can even have a snickers bar, you just can't have the entire thing and you have to drink milk with it. I do 30 minutes of cardio with the resistance turned all the way up to maximize muscle tone then I do 20 minutes of abs and 20 minutes of weights. I used to do this 4 times a week but I am slacking a bit lately. I was doing basically the same work out before the diet and I wasn't loosing any weight. So I would say the diet it most of my success. I too have to work really hard to keep the weight off.

Wow great results.... I'm in the same boat with all of my weight in my middl (5'5 -125lbs) -it is going though - I've been using P90X and love it - but it will make you more muscular as it is pretty intense.....

Cheers,

Hey that's SO COOL!!! I'm doing P90X too!!!! I love it!! I add cardio on resistance days (the doubles version) and it's burning fat like crazy! What weight are you lifting right now?

That is an amazing achievement, you look great and you should be totally proud of yourself. I just started weight training myself, I'm currently down to 125 from 138 with 2" off my waist, mostly through diet and walking on the treadmill 30 min a day. I'd love to hear what your weight-training regimen is, if you don't mind sharing.

I don't mind sharing at all! I'm doing a program called P90X which is a rotation of 12 different workout DVD's that include cardio workouts like Kenpo Karate, Plyometrics, Core Synergistics (GREAT to shrink tummy!) and also have weight training DVD's (you have to buy dumbbells for these) like Chest & Back, Shoulders & Arms, Legs & Back, Biceps & Triceps etc. You can also get an additional few workouts (P90X PLUS) and that includes Interval Training, Total Body Plus, and a few more. It's a really well-rounded program that is great for women like us who need to put some muscle onto our bodies! I lift 15 lb weights and 10 lb weights. The low carb diet is what really helps drop the weight, but the program is what re-shapes the body.

It has worked so well for me, I hope it might help you also!

Hi rosa120,

Yes P90X has taken the inches off of me too, but I've had trouble staying on the diet as I have some digestive issues from an unrelated illness, so that has hindered my progress. I've dropped from 138 to 125 since starting and have lost about 5% body fat - still have a ways to go around my middle though. Right now I'm lifting 10s and 15s as well. I agree completely with you, it is a great program - I was hesitant and first about getting it, as you know how these programs can seem to be, but I am a believer in Tony Horton for sure.

Again congrats on your results and continue to "bring it!"

Sweet results!
My husband the would-be trainer put me on a protein rich/ low card diet plus the combo of weights and intense cardio and i have to say I had simlar results. I lost 15 lbs and have maintained that.
the most rewarding thing is that I did all that before I found out I was hypothyroid and started meds.

150lbs to 135lbs.

Are you all still P90x'ing? It's on QVC, right now, and I'm watching.

I've actually had the program for several years, but have been afraid to try it, but I LOVE Tony Horton.

Do you all have the rotations for P90x? I lost all of my booklets that came with it.

Hey Kat,

Are you still looking for the rotations for P90x? I have the books and could scan them if you need them. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I haven't looked at this thread for a long time.
