I've been taken off Amaryl, which doesn't seem to be doing crap for me and put on 500mg of Met. I'm freaking nervous about taking it, if it's going to work, blah blah blah.
Don't be scared to take met. I know some of the side effects on this site can be a bit scary but there are some of us that have had very little to no side effects at all. I have only been on met for about a month and a half so can't really say if it works yet or not but you have to stay positive...it's a step in the right direction and really what do you have to lose? The side effects are managable and if you are like me you won't have very many at all. So give it a shot, if you don't like it you can always stop and try something else. that is the beauty of it all, there are so many options for gals like us right now!
I took my first pill... so far not feeling anything. I hope that's a good sign.
You're right, I have nothing to lose. Well, except fat, lol. I just hope this works, because the Amaryl didn't and I'm not going back on BCP, I really don't care what my doctor says.
FWIW I had VERY little in the way of side effects when I started met. Maybe the occasional looser-than-usual BM but as my usual MO is constipation, I didbn't mind at all. I could count on one hand the number of times met actually gave me poopie problems that were worth b!tching about - and it was *always* after pigging out on something I have no business eating in the first place (huge bowl of mac and cheese, half a can of nuts...)
Un/fortunately those effects didn't last... if they had maybe I'd be more moralistic about my eating...

I am on met also. I have had problems with upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea. It is very uncomfortable. To say the least my periods are never ending.... any suggestions

The diarrhea has started. I'm kind of used to it, because I was experiencing bad diarrhea prior to starting NPC. It isn't bothering me thus far, so hopefully it just goes away soon.
