Question I'm new and Confused

Hello all.. My first time here.. This msg is long.

Let me give you a brief description of my problem..

When I was 15, I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. One cyst that I know of. I was put on BCP's, they didn't help. So I was put on depo for 2 yrs, that helped! Well I decided to go off depo, because my family doctor told me the cyst was gone after a sonogram.

In July '04 I was working at a nursing home. I started having real bad pains on my left side, I couldn't tell where the pain was exactly. I seen 4 different doctors about the pain, they all said a pulled muscle and recommended me to physical therapy. I went to PT for a few months and the pain never left.

Okay I'm 21 now. In December '04 I went off BCP's to get pregnant with my husband. Janurary I got a BFP. I thought everything was fine. On 1-26-05 I had a m/c. During the vaginal sonogram to check my uterus, they noticed a 8 cm cyst on my right ovary. I insisted they do laparascopy, because I was so sick of dealing with a cyst, I just wanted it gone. My OB told me the cyst was pushing all my organs to my left side causing the pain.

So I have laparoscopy done Feb 18th 2005. During surgery the cyst wasn't on my right ovary, it was in my fallipon tube. After Surgery my OB tells me family I'm fine, she didn't see a reason why I couldn't have a healthy pregnancy, and she said she cleaned my tubes out and everything was great!

So I assumed the pain on my left side would quit hurting, well it didn't. 2 weeks exactly after surgery I go back to see my midwife ( I see a OB and midwife) to check the cuts from surgery, to get a okay to TTC again, and to ask her why I'm still hurting on my left side.

The midwife said " You know you have multiple cysts on your ovaries don't you?, and she showed me my previous sonograms" I said "No I didn't know, and why didn't the OB tell me that having laparoscopy?"
The midwife said "probably didn't see any use."
I seen the sonogram, I think I had 3 cysts on each ovary.

Before running blood tests on me, she told me I had PCOS. Then took blood work, and never gave me the results.

Now my concerns are: I don't have any symptoms of PCOS. I have pelvic pain because of multiple cysts I'm asssuming..
I also have a skin rash/disorder- I've had all my life that looks like ring worm/cigarette burns- I can't get rid of it, I've had it all my life- I know acne/skin condition is a symptom of PCOS does mine sound like that?

I don't have abnormal hair growth, or anything really associated with PCOS..

I am just confused, maybe in denial.. I came here for answers and support..Now my concerns are: I don't have any symptoms of PCOS. I have pelvic pain because of multiple cysts I'm assuming..

I forgot to mention that I don't have irregular periods, but I was BCP's for 6 yrs, and after the m/c I got my period 4 weeks later which is normal, and the pain on my left side is constant 24/7.

Hi there,

I don't have any answers for you. The skn condition does not sound familiar at all. The irregular periods and cysts could be symptoms. I would look into another doctor. You need real answers.

Hang in there. We are here to support you when you need it.

Default rash

I have gotten the same rash as you. I used to get it frequently when I was in mid-20s. In the crux of my elbows, and warm moist places. Doctor misdiagnosed it and it went on a couple of years. I tried an experiement which worked, and I tried applying monostat on the rash. It would go away for a while after each application, longer and longer each time, eventually it went away(only get it on rare occasions now) I found out afterwards that it is a yeast infection on your skin, so my experiment was the right thing to do. Sounds gross, but you may want to give it a try, and certainly can't hurt.

Don't know if that related to PCOS at all, but I do know that one of the symptoms of PCOS is darkened patches of skin. I now get those in the same places I use to get the rash.

Yeast loves sugar, so if your sugar or insulin is out of whack, so the PCOS may be contributing to the rash if not a direct cause.

Well thanks MsShawn.. Finally I find someone that sounds alil something like my skin disorder!

Does yours look exactly like ringworm/cigarette burns? Mine does.. I get it on my legs and arms. I get it worse during the winter time.. Lotions and creams doesn't help- even creams for ringworm.. I know its not ring worm because 1- I've had it since I was 9 yrs old (ringworm doesn't stay like that), 2-ringworm is contagious (no one has ever caught it off me)..

The only thing I found to help mine is laying in a tanning bed.. It dries the places up and they heal, but then a few days later I have new ones that come out..

Are you sure yours sounds like mine? I will post a image of what mine looks like- that I got off the net.

heres the link to the pic: Please look at it:

Thats what mine looks like.. Does yours look like this?

Default similar

Mine was similar but the ring was thicker. It was about the size a cigarette burn would be, reminds me of leopard spots. What my doctor originally thought it was was a form of Pityriasis Rosea, which can be helped by exposure to the sun. But there is no cure for it. It just goes away in a few months and doesn't come back.

http://dermnetnz.org/viral/pityriasis-rosea.html

It may have been that, and I found a treatment which worked, but I was also reading about how you can get yeast infections on your skin, not just vaginally, Cutaneous Candidiasis "Intertrigo".

http://www.drmhijazy.com/english/cha...ter10_2.htm#82

Ringworm, is caused by fungus so it's not too far off. The Intertrigo is typically treated with antifungal medication.

Hope this helps a bit. The links have some pictures.

Default ringworm

I checked out that site, the the rash I had doesn't look exactly like the picture you sent, but it did look similar to another photo on that site. So trying the monostat on your skin can't hurt, and you may want to try acidopholus as an herbal supplement, promotes the good bacteria to fight things like yeast infections, etc.

I have pityriasis and it SUCKS!!!!!! It doesn't go away like the site states. I have had mine for 6 or 7 years now. Soaking in bleach water is the only relief I have found. When I do this, it will go away for 3 or 4 months at a time. I don't think you have it.

Default New too

HI. My first post too.
It took a long time (years) for me to get diagnosed with PCOS because I was not obese. Have been on Metformin since November 04 and although getting used to it was a tough couple of weeks, it has been good now. We're waiting now to see if it is actually even bringing on my cycle now.
Anyhoo, I was wondering about your rash thing... is it pale/bright and only ringed or is it a round patch ever? Have a new weird rash and was just wondering.

Default I have rashes like that too

Mine is dermatitis. It's worse in the winter and better in the summer as long as I don't sweat, sweat aggravates it. I use a creme called Cutivate and it clears it right up. I get these spots in the crook of my elbows and behind my knees a lot. I also get them on my hands and sometimes on my eyelids (very pretty I tell you! LOL)
