Question I'm new and confused

Hi All,
I just found this site this morning and have been crying for the past 2 hours reading the posts and feeling the same way as all of you. I went off the birth contol about 5 months ago b/c me and my husband have decided that we want to have a baby. i have been shaving a small strip of hair under my chin since i was 18. Since stopping the pill, I have to shave my entire chin and neck, the peach fuzz that was blonde and all over my face has turned to a brown color, and i have hair all over my stomach like a guy!! I have started to get acne on my face and these skin flaps under my armpits. I have not had my period since.
I have been so depressed lately thinking i was some sort of freak. Then I found out about PCOS. So now i am going through testing to see if i have PCOS, which it sounds like I do.
Just wondering if anyone has had success with any medications for the hair problem, and if anyone has had electrolysis work for them. Does the hair just keep coming back with PCOS?
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm sure you'll find a lot of support here, welcome. I'm hoping another member who's more knowledgeable than me will address your questions. I was just recently diagnosed myself in December 2005, so I'm still learning.

You've been on the pill. When some women go on pills containing signficant amounts of estrogen their bodies shut down the natural production of estrogen. Normally when they come off the pill, natural estrogen production restarts, but frequently it doesn't happen at once. That leaves your natural testosterone production unopposed and amounts of free testosterone in the bloodstream rise, causing male-type facial and body hair, especially if you've a tendency to it anyway, as you must have, if you've been shaving some facial hair since 18. It could be pcos, but that's by no means a foregone conclusion.

i bleach almost my whole face once a week, but it doesn't seem to work on the dark hairs, even if they are not course. I even have the extra strength Sally Hansen bleach, and that doesnt work either!! Anyone else with this problem?
