Hi everyone! I'm 18 and I was diagnosed w/PCOS in 2007 by my endocrinologist. He basically told me that all my symptoms and signs pointed to this and he put me on Metformin and Yaz. I'm still on Yaz but I stopped taking Metformin b/c of the horse-sized pills and they made me nauseated, so im now on Glumetza, which is slightly smaller and I have to take them twice a day (1 in the morning, 1 at night). Since i've been diagnosed, my social life and self-esteem level has been at a total low. B/C of this, i've been picked on about my chin and facial hair and my mustache and never had a boyfriend. I really don't tell many people about me having this b/c it's like telling a brick wall b/c they won't understand what it is or what I have to go through (i'm currently crying while typing this and idk why!) When I pray at night, I often ask God "Why me? What did I do to ANYONE to deserve this? Why can't I be normal like all my other female friends?" There hasn't been any previous cases in the women in neither side of my family. My mom has Type II diabetes, Grave's Disease and Acid Reflux but no sign of this before. I joined this forum to talk to other women who has this and to get advice on how to treat so I can look forward to a better tomorrow and a long, healthy life.
Oh, Gemini, don't cry. You have found the right place to find understanding and support! Take the time to read the posts from other women here and you will not feel so alone and will see that all of us PCOS women go through pretty much the same thing.
I am 39 years old and was diagnosed when I was 14. I am not trying to get pregnant but I am actively treating my PCOS for the first time in years. I have issues with weight gain, hair, no periods, high triglycerides and acne. Pretty classic stuff for PCOS.
There is an excellent thread on this site about hair issues and removal. I have tried it all. Right now I shave regularly with a traditional or electric razor. I have used VEET dipilatory cream with pretty good results. I don't use it on my face because my skin is sensitive to chemicals. There is a tread on this site about Majic Powder that I want to try. It sounds great but I don't know if I will find it where I live so I may have to order it online.
Sorry this is long but I want you to know that you are not alone and can come to this site with any questions, concerns or rants you may have.

Thanks for letting me know. We have a Family Dollar here so I will check. The problem is, I live in SD where the population is 91% caucasion, 8% native american, and 1% everything else. I don't know that there will be much of a market here for that particular product. If all else fails, I will have my dad check out at the air force base, they may have it.
