Hi, my name is Melissa. I was diagnosed in November 2006 with PCOS, and have felt lost ever since. I found this site and have been reading posts for a little over a month now. I cannot tell you how much all of you have helped me. I feel so hopeless so many days, and when I found this site, I completely felt like I had somewhere to go. I come here at least a few times a day on my days off, just to see what's new and feel a little more "normal". My husband and I are TTC #1. I am a pediatric nurse and take care of post-partum moms, and can't wait to have my own baby, although my job is a constant reminder of my struggle. I will be starting Clomid 50 mg on days 5-9 this month. Hopefully, I will be lucky, but I am not getting my hopes up. My doc has not mentioned Met at all, however I have decided to give this first round a shot, and then bring it up. I am just looking to make a new friends. I am joining out of encouragement from my husband and my best friend, my emotions have been so whacky, they think I probably need a support group. I look forward to gaining answers, suggestions and friends. Thanks so much!
I am also a pediatric nurse. I do private duty, so most of my patients are trach kids, who were premies, or have congenital abnormalities.
My job makes me worry about birth defects, and preterm labor. I guess those are the hazards of going into nursing. I actually love my job, and find it very rewarding to care for those special needs kids.
I am very surprised that your Doc didn't mention Met when he gave you your PCOS Dx. For most docs, Met is the treatment of choice, before moving on to clomid. Although some docs don't think that Met will help, unless you are IR.
That is the nice thing about SC, we can learn about ALL the PCOS Tx options that the docs might fail to mention (even alternative options), to better help us advocate for ourselves.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope you get that BFP soon.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I really appreciate it and look forward to a lot of informative and fun posts.
Cara- Your job sounds GREAT! In the future I may decide to do something like that, although I hope to conceive and have at least one biological child, I have always had the desire to adopt a special needs child. Not only because they are hard to place, but I feel like being a pediatric nurse would make me a strong candidate. I'm surprised my doc didn't mention met as well, but I want to try the least medicated route first. I work at a hospital setting and all I can say is that we are in RSV season......BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.

Thanks Melissa,
Yes, my job is GREAT. Since I care for these kids in their own homes, I have 1 patient the whole shift. I take care of them through the night while their parents are sleeping. Two of our families actually adopted their special needs children that we have on our service. All of our parents feel very blessed to have these children in their families.
If you would like to try the least medicated route first, check out my PCOS story. I used alternatives as part of my PCOS Tx, and I had great results.

Welcome cyster, and lots of babydust! I hope the clomid helps you! I did conceive on met (1500 mg), a little encouragement for you in case you go that route!
Hugs
