Default I'm new here

Well, I actually just got a diagnosis yesterday. Hubby and I have only had a short period of actually 'trying' before he was deployed but I was checked into the hospital for severe pain in my lower stomach and it turned out I had an infected cyst. I went back for a follow up yesterday and he told me I had PCOS. I kind of saw it coming. I am pretty thin (BMI of 20.2) and have cycles that range from 30-60 days. I'm not really concerned about getting pregnant right away since I am 19 but it is something I want in the next few years. My doctor seems very hyper and suggested I try clomid while my hubby is home for 15 days of R&R but I have a thing for getting my hopes up and while I know it probably won't work that first time it sounds very exciting.
I also wanted to know if I am IR so I know whether or not I would want/need medication for that. I really don't like the miscarriage statistics when pcos women are compared to non-pcos women... I'm thinking of going on a diabetic diet too.

Welcome! It's great to know early on that you have PCOS. I knew before TTC, and that's helpful.

On a side note, my brother is in the army and was deployed during the birth of his first baby. Not pleasant for the wife.

If you guys are ready when he's back for R&R, that's fine, but don't let a doctor push you into anything.

I've been ready for a baby for a while but I'm not too keen on getting loaded down with medications. On one side I'm afraid that with the medications I'm going to either have multiples, have a baby with birth defects from the medication, have horrible side effects, or spend tons of money and never get pregnant.
On the other side I'm afraid if I don't take the medication I could get worse or miscarry because of my PCOS or not be able to get pregnant without them. My hubby is leaving it up to me but I know he really wants to start a family too.

Welcome. I'm new too and have a similar BMI. It's great that you're learning so much at such a young age.

well, I don't know if its the stress or whatever but when I was 14 I was 125 lbs, after high school I dropped down to 120 (I figured it was because I was losing muscle), a year later I was 118 up until about a month ago and this morning when I stepped on the scale it said 112! I don't have the appetite like I used to. When I'm hungry I can only eat around 1/3 of what I used to but I get hungry more often... oh I'm so messed up.
