Unhappy I'm new here....

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I was diagnosed with PCOS. I'm 28 years old and married. I stopped taking the pill in February of this year. I ovulated fine for 3 months and then my periods vanished. I had been on the pill for almost 10 years. My husband and I were trying to get pregnant, but were obviously concerned about the lack of menstration. Now we know why.

I'm horribly upset. I'm 5'6 and 130 pounds. Over the summer I put on 5-7 pounds. I eat once a day and the weight won't go away, but my hair will! Oh, my poor dry hair. Anyways....I'm not ready to go down the infertility route yet. I just can't bring myself to accept the fact that having a baby naturally won't happen for me. So, I'll get back on the pill until we are ready to talk with an infertility doc. Is there something I did wrong?? I don't understand.

Part of the reason you may not be loosing weight is because you are only eating once a day. Your body is going into starvation mode. It does not know when it is going to eat next so it is storing what little you are eating. You need to be eating a well balanced diet at least three meals a day and two snacks. It is especially imprtant to be eating a healthy well balanced diet if you are ttc. Poor diet/too little food can also contribute to infertility. How do you know that you were ovulating during those three months? I have regular cycles (28-30 days) and was getting positive results when I should have on my opk for almost two years then my doctor did a blood test and informed me I was not ovulating even though I had all the signs. If you are serious about ttc you need to see your doctor. There are blood tests that can be done to see if you are ovulating. If you are not there are meds that can help you. There is nothing wrong with getting help from a doctor to help you regulate your cycles and make sure you are ovulating. I only wish I would have gone in for help/been diagnosed sooner. I'm now 35, tc#1 and hoping I don't run out of time. Good luck.
