I am a 33 year old married mother of 2 and I am
extrememly glad that I found SoulCysters. I was begining to feel alone in this struggle.
I was diagnosed in 1994 by my GYN after I missed my period for 11 consecutive months. I have only been researching my symptoms for the past four years as they (symptoms) have increased in number and severity.
Symptoms include: excess weight (especially around my middle), excess hair growth, skin tags, irregular cycles, fatigue, etc......you know the story.
In Jan 09, I went to the doctor with symptoms of diabetes (excessive thirst and frequent urination and extreme fatigue). Test's ruled out diabetes, however, urianlysis confirmed blood in my urine.
(the source has yet to be found).
My problem is that I have discussed, or attempted, to discuss this matter of PCOS with both my family doctor and my GYN. Need-less-to-say, I got absolutely nowhere with either of them.
Tried to make an appointment with an Endocrine but they need a referral from my Primary. Unfortunately, the doctor that diagnosed me in '94 passed away years ago and I have no idea where my medical records are.
My next move , I guess, is to arm myself with an arsenal of PCOS info, go back to my primary doc to (as shameful as it sounds) beg for a Endo referral.
