My Mood: Points: 6,651.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,651.98 | I'm a newbie...just want to say Hi. :o) Hey everyone, I stumbled across this site while searching for information on health issues in children of Vietnam Veterans. My father was exposed to Agent Orange and I was wondering if my PCOS, and heart murmur were a result. I was told I have PCOS in December of '07. I've been dealing with irregular periods, acne and lots of unwanted hair for years now. I've been on different BCP's before I was diagnosed with PCOS. I've been on Loestrin24fe for almost a month now. My doctor told me it would help with the acne and the unwanted facial hair (which I have a hard time believing). I'm also using Vaniqa, it's been around 6 weeks since I started it. It seems to be helping somewhat. My mustache is almost gone but I'm still dealing with the beard! I've read it could take up to 6 months for it to really kick in so I'm not panicking yet. I'm really glad I found this site. I'm hoping it will help me feel better about myself and maybe find some new friends! Thanks. :o)
I posted this once already but thought I had it in the wrong spot. Please bear with me...I don't use message boards very often. |

My Mood: Points: 6,651.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,651.98 | I'm dealing with the hair (have been since high school) and acne. My acne wasn't that bad in high school it's just seems to have gotten worse as I've gotten older. I'm using Vaniqa to help with the hair on my face. So far so good but I've been dealing with it for so long it's hard to be optimistic about it! I still have to pluck everyday. I'm back on BCP's to regulate my periods. |

I've tried to lose weight so many times I've lost count! I get so discouraged I give up and then of course I feel really, really bad about myself. It's a vicious cycle! |

I am on information overload - some of what I'm reading is scary... I'm wanting to not even think about it! But it has to be dealt with I guess... Was looking for somewhere to post and figured I'd add on to yours since you are new also! |

My Mood: Points: 6,651.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,651.98 | Hi Christy10! I'm on information overload too. It's been freaking me out a bit, everything that we may have to deal with down the road. I'm really worried about diabetes. It's on both sides of my family and now PCOS just adds more risk for me! |

My Mood: Points: 1,053.52 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,053.52 | ya, when first i was diagnosed as a PCOSer I had an info overload, too. But you know, it's okay. It seems (from my small window into this strange world) that a sensible diet helps.. one of protiens and veggies .. light carbs .. some deserts.. and not too much caffine. ALso, LASER is the thing I "pimp out" the most. That thing changed my life. Let's see... also, a light.. but good Birth Control Pill is wonderful. Light stress... regular excercise that doesn't stress you out... a more throughly planned life so that there isn't as much stress.
Is there a thread through that blog? Ya, anyway, I'm not totally there.. but I'm still working on self-control in the caffine/carbs area. I'm not naturally overweight because of my genes but I have thin hair, manly muscles, lost my boobs, thin nails, thining hair, hairy boobs, chin, 'stache, butt cheekers. All of that is remedied by the laser (going to start waxing those beautiful but flabby buns) and I have also been taking over 3000 mg of biotin and a multi every day. Working on lessening the bad things and keeping up to date with my endocrinologist (which i haven't gone to yet.. but keep testing at the obgyn.... should have an endo though.. they really know).
Okay, that's about as much info as I've got right now. |

My Mood: Points: 1,053.52 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,053.52 | "I have thin hair, manly muscles" I'm quoting myself, I love this.
I don't have the manly muscles anymore because of the fact of the YAZ that I take. Also, the hair is still thin but I've got a short bob and it seems to work.. also it is dyed so that makes the hair thicker. I'm also using something that is the knock of brand of "rogaine" for women in Walgreens. I'll let you know if that works.. but I read in a beauty magazine that it helps with people's eyebrows that have been overplucked. I thought, hey, then... let's give it a go for the scalp.

My Mood: Points: 6,651.98 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,651.98 | I'd love to get the laser treatments but I can't afford them. I can barely afford the pill and the Vaniqa. My insurance doesn't cover the Vaniqa and barely covers the pill. My doctor wrote me a prescription for some appetite suppressant that's ridiculously overpriced, needless to say I can't afford that either |
