Our 10-month-old foster son is probably leaving us in two weeks. He's been with us for four months. The court has ordered him, his biological mom and his new (yet to be born) little sister into full family foster care. They will stay w/ a trained family for 6 to 9 months and (hopefully?) bio mom will become trained on how to be a mother. I know I'm supposed to be hoping for reunification w/ bio mom, but I'm just sad right now...thinking about saying goodbye.
The only good news is that the judge has ordered visitation for my DH and I, so we'll still get to see him. And if things don't work out in the full family foster care, he will come back to us.

Get involved in animal rescue. You won't be sorry. Your heart may break, there may be times when your eyes are red-rimmed for days. You may lose faith in the goodness of people, but your spirit will be renewed by the resilience of those you save. It isn't easy, but it's worth it. I promise you, you will be forever changed.
I am so sad for you...i dont even know what to say. This is the reason i could never do foster care! You have so much courage for taking on this huge task when you know that it may not always be a good outcome....i will pray that god will guard your heart and is it bad to pray that maybe he gets to stay? I am so sorry sweetie......my heart breaks for you and your family.

If its a desire of your heart i belive its "ok" to pray for it......its so amazing how you can justify stuff like that. My cyster friend Sara (see sig) and her husband are in the process of being foster parents and i really dont know how she or you can do it! I have so much respect for people who love kids as they are their own and its so important for kids to have stability! God knows the desires of your heart...you will be blessed with babies! Keep the faith cyster...what else do we have!

I know what its like as a former fostermom to lose a child. It's heartwrenching and scarey. You want to make sure they're safe...and nobody can take care of them like you can. We share a bond with our children and to have to let them go is horrendous. But we must let go and see if this is right. If this is better for Him. In all cases...it feels like muck! We know in our hearts they belong to us. Pray through this sweetie! I pray that God gives you strength to make it through this rough time. That He would give you peace & direction. When we're left empty-handed its like starting over. God knows this and will guide you and comfort you. Push through this....you never know what the outcome may be. Which is why you have visitation. Not many foster-parents get visitation. God has a plan for you!

Oh I'm so terribly sorry to hear that! I can only image how tough this must be for you and your husband. I know it's hard but be proud that you gave that precious little boy such a good start in life! I'll pray for your strength and comfort during this time...
