Hi,

I have been diagnosed with PCOS for 7 years now. I am 26 and am so tired of having PCOS. I am in so much pain tonight and ever freaken time i have my period. I'm very frusterated. The dr's just give me tylenol 3 and tell me to deal with it. I can't deal with it. Tonight i am doubled over in pain and i want to go to the hospital so bad. I have tried a heating pad, tylenol 3 with codine, ib profin. I dont know what else to do HELP ME PLEASE. Or at least tell me you can relate.

Thanks
Melissa

Do you have endometriosis? Do you have large cysts on your ovaries?

I can relate! I have been in tears twice today! But luckily I already have an appt for thursday. I had an u/s a month ago, and found cysts. They were wierd though. It was like a big cyst, with smaller ones attached. This was in both ovaries. But I go back ffor follow up on thurs, to see if they are changing. I hope you feel better! All I have to take is Advil liquid gels, at least you have something to take a little of the edge off ( I assume, I'm allergic to codine).

Cysts can also cause pain from what I've heard. I think it's terrible they cannot get you meds that will help the pain. I went to school with a girl who had a relative who had such bad pain during AF she was pretty much helpless for days on end. With her they did birth control pills and it helped her. Some women say taking BCPS with PCOS can cause your hormones to go nuts and claim it makes their PCOS symptoms worse when they are older.

Some docs don't take menstrual pain very seriously, but you might want to contact another doc about this.

Has anyone ever tried Aleve? Or it's generic naproxen sodium?

I used to have cramps so bad when I had my period that I would be throwing up. Now I take naproxen sodium, and i'm nearly painfree during my period. Still some discomfort, but man, has it helped. It's also the only time I take it. I don't want to become used to it!

I know it says only take 1 every 12 hrs. I'm not a doctor, but I take 2 to start out and then take 1 every 4-5 hrs or as needed (when the cramps start up again).

Again, not a doctor, but you might want to talk to one about it. It's made life liveable again!

Advil Liqui-Gels help me, but I don't tend to get a lot of cysts, mine's more with cramping and bloodclots I think. ((HUG)) I'm sorry you're going through this. I would consider talking to your dr. about BCP's to hopefully get rid of those cysts.

I'm sorry to hear that...hugs! I too have found that aleve at least takes the edge off so the pain is not so unbearable, but be sure to ask your dr. first b/c there are some drugs you shouldn't mix it with.
Hope things get better for you soon!!

well, i just wanted to add that I ended up calling my dr yesterday. She said the reason I am bleeding so much and the pain is so bad is breakthrough bleeding. This is the 1st month I have been on yasmin, and apparently the 1st 3 months can be rough. I never had this prob before when I was on BCP, but I wasnt bleeding all the time either. Well, i have an appt tomorrow anyways, so I guess I will know more then.

I can totally relate with you. I'm going through a period without having my menstruation, but I'm having such strong stomach pains that I have to bend over at work sometimes for 5 minutes till it passes. I take buscopan, which is a strong pain killer in Italy, but the thing I would like to know is will this go on for ever? will I always suffer from such bad strong stomach pains? Is this a symptom of PCO's that doesn't go away?
I had a u/s about 3 months ago and the cysts were tiny, so why am I in all this pain?

I think us cysters all deserve a medal for what we have to go through.

i lived for 6 years with a period once in every calendar month (but not regular...sometimes 30 day cycles, sometimes bleed week 1 and 3...) i went to the dr coz i was cramping so bad, he asked if there was a chance i could be pregnant...coz i had big clots, he said it looked like a miscarriage, and my cramps looked like contractions to clear the fetal tissue...well at 11 years old, not properly knowing what sex was...i burst into tears. he examined me and said, ok ur a virgin.

i had that until i was dx when i was 17, they put me on bcp's, now i bleed 3 or 4 days...quite heavy still, but thinner and easier to pass, and hardly any pain at all! wheeeeeeee i can actually do stuff when i have AF, instead of being curled up in bed or in the bath.
