My Mood: Points: 55,365.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 55,365.34 | I'm so thankful to have found this forum! I was diagnosed by my ob/gyn 2 months ago and this whole thing has been a whirlwind of emotions for me. I had no idea that PCOS wasn't simply "cysts on the ovaries" and the articles here on SoulCyters have been very informative. I've gained a lot of insight!
I'm heading back to the dr this week and I'm pretty sure he wants me on Met. I've heard the horror stories but I've also read all the positive effects.
My mom is diabetic and took Met. for several years before changing to something else. She has strongly discouraged me from taking it and has said that she suffered hair loss while on it. That actually has me more worried than the fatigue & stomach issues! Has anyone experienced this while on Met? |

Do you have excess hair growth or alopecia? If you are concerned about how that particular side effect might affect loosing hair (that's in the RIGHT places) you should definately discuss it with your Dr. I was very happy at how suddenly easy it was to loose weight when I was on the Met. Good luck

Got preggo after taking Metformin for 3 mo Miscarriage 3/01/06 Took BC for 3 mo Found out I was pregnant again! Erynne Sophie 3/01/07 @ 7:11 pm Breast fed for 4 mo, then lost milk supply after hormones returned to pre-preg state. Frustrated with the return of all horrible PCOS symptoms! My Mood: Points: 55,365.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 55,365.34 | Hi Gemm, thanks for the well wishes! Excessive hair/hair loss is not an issue for me. I'm just concerned because my hair is thin, so hair loss would be very noticeable.
I am encouraged to know that Met. can help with weight loss. I've started a high protein/low carb diet and I'm exercising 6 days/wk. I've only been dieting for 2 weeks and already my family can see a difference. I'll find out tonight how much I've lost this week. |

I was nauseous for the first few weeks, but that has gone away completely. I seem to be more sensitive to sugar (makes me feel like crap if I eat too much) and am definitely more sensitive to alcohol (major hangover the next day if I have a few drinks) but other than that, nothing notable. Good luck with the diet and exercise. I think eating the right foods, more than anything, is the key to feeling energetic and healthy.

My Mood: Points: 55,365.34 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 55,365.34 | Thanks for the advice. I pray that my body tolerates Met well. I'm a teacher so if I need to make an emergency trip to the bathroom the little ones might have to be unsupervised for a few minutes, lol. |
