Unhappy I'm Turning into GOLLUM!

Just took a bath, used my Nioxin shampoo stuff as I have been doing faithfully for about half a year, now, and MORE HAIRS THAN EVER FELL OUT!

"I am turning into Gollum!" I thought, horrified (those of you who have seen Lord of the Rings know what I am talking about, as Gollum loses his hair as he deteriorates under the power of the Ring).

What's next for me? Running around the rocks like him in a little loin cloth and eating fish alive? Maybe I will start calling my wedding ring "My Precioussssss!"

Well, that is kinda funny, but there are times that I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

Default this is my first post...had to reply

That is so funny. I can relate, and I am a little overwhelmed right now, as I have just joined the boards. I thought 'why not reply to this--it made me laugh, and cry...'
exactly how I feel.

Hi Kat;

I know how you feel...I was talking with DH last night while showing him the website (who asked me what "hirsutism" means - how embarrassing. At least he had to ask lol).

I mentioned that I have been losing my hair since I was 13 -- almost 20 years! Then I thought, well if I were really losing it, it would have all been gone by now, right?

Just food for thought...

Kind Regards,
Sarah

Hi Kat, I started laughing when I seen your post because I flashed back the The Return of the King at the beginning where they show Gollum with a full head of hair then show his hair loss over time..yikes now I'm scared! hehe ...was that a flash of my future? Oh well at least we try to make light of it, instead of sitting here crying!

Glad no one was insulted by my post! I meant to say that it was OK to laugh at this if you wanted to! At the same time, I know firsthand what a serious symptom this is. I am so glad that there are cysters who understand. Well, at least my hair loss is not as bad as Gollum's yet!
And...
WELCOME to SoulCysters, thejourneybegins! Looking forward to more posts from you! I am glad that you understand!

Sarah your post was encouraging to me! I think as painful as it was, at least your DH knows what hirsutism means. Knowledge is power.

Ryanna yes, I thought of this after I saw the extended DVD about the making of the films. All of the different prototypes that they had for Gollum's character and how it evolves. Hopefully none of us will reach that point!

Thanks, everyone! I do feel better! Now, to find me a good, fresh wiggling fish...

Hi KlassicalKat,

What else are you taking for your hair loss?

Have you heard of the product called Revivogen? It is a lot stronger than Nioxin. Nioxin only contains 1 DHT inhibiting ingredient, while Revivogen contains much more.

I believe the Revivogen system is cheaper too (not sure how much Nioxin is).

Other things that can help the condition of your hair (ie making it shinier, softer, stronger, grow faster) are

Flax seeds
Evening primrose oil
MSM
Grapeseed extract
Silica

Also, have you checked your iron levels? Low iron can also produce some shedding.

Thanks, Laura!
Lots of good ideas I had never heard of!

I just had another beauty supply shop owner recommend the Therapro system (shampoos and conditioners and vitamins). It is very expensive and I wonder if it works?

I will definitely look for the Revivogen products!

Thanks again!
