Default I'ma worried Mum

Hi everyone, I am very lucky Not to have PCOS but my daughter who is 25 has it, she is on Dianette and has been for about 3 months, which to date has had no effect on her period which is now in it's 8th month!! She has never had regular periods since she started when she was 11 but was only diagnosed with it at the beginning of the year. She has had to take a year out of University and give up her job due to the severity and pain of her condition. She, like many of you passes huge blood clots, her GP has put her on a high iron dose which has other side effects that aren't pleasant. She is engaged to be married, thankfully her fiancee is very understanding!!! But they do want children after they are married. Her consultant has now come up with the idea of fitting the "coil" and will put her on Metaformin (?) when he does the procedure sometime in November (good old British NHS!). Does anyone out there no if this helps as I can't find out anything from the web.
Good luck and thanks to you all.
Worriedmum

I have had a look around your excellant site and will try to persuade my daghter to join you as you all seem to help each other and come up with some really sound advice.
Thanks again

Hi

welcome to you both. I'm in the uk, and I know what the nhs is like. Totally slllllllooooowwwwww.

I've had a mirena (coil) fitted about 18 months ago - due to extremely heavy/ painful periods. It has helped me massively. I also take the Metformin, which again has helped me loads....

You (and your daughter) are most welcome to pm any time you want.

Eva

Worriedmum--I don't know how the coil affects things. But the Metformin is a great help to some of the pcos symptoms!!!
Glad you found this site and I hope your daughter joins as well!
Welcome!
