Default Was I misdiagnosed?

Several years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. My periods were very irregular, I had hirsutism, unexplained weight gain and bad acne. My Dr sent me for blood tests the results of which lead him to diagnose me with PCOS. He told me I had some of the highest testosterone levels that he had seen in quite a while.

DH and I had reached a point where we wanted to TTC. The Dr warned us that it might not happen especially since AF was so irregular. Well we tried for 2 years naturally because we couldn't afford fertility meds.

I finally gave up and decided to wait until we could get fertility help. Then I got pregnant!!!! I gave birth to my son in June 07!

I recently went and had my levels checked again and everything came back normal. AF has been a bit more regular although my periods are about 35-40 days apart. I still have the facial hair, acne and just can't seem to shake the weight.

Could I have been misdiagnosed?

Women with PCOS can still get pregnant - some without any help at all. All of your symptoms still point to PCOS. Pregnancy can definitely affect your hormones, so even if they're normal now, they may go crazy again a few months down the road. In fact, you don't have to have abnormal hormone levels to have PCOS

If you are concerned about being misdiagnosed, then go for a second opinion.

That being said, my AF was always normal, as well as ovulation. I also got pregnant with no problems. I showed some symptoms of PCOS in my early teens, but did not get an official dx until about 3 years ago.
