I just went to a new OBGYN yesterday to have blood work done to see if I have PCOS. I thought she might tell me to stop taking birth control, (which i have been on for 2 years), but she didn't, she just proceeded with the the tests. I am so anxious to get these blood results back but I am also fearful that they might not be correct. Could the pill effect my blood tests that would confirm PCOS?
Hmmmmm, I'm Not Sure Tbh
As I Had Everything, Including An Operation B4 They Did My Bloods
And They All Came Back Abnormal - Because I Have Extremem Case of PCOS
However, The Pill, Is Suppose 2 Sort Ur Hormones Out, Hence Why U Then Become Regular!?! So Really, I Suppose It Does Affect Results?
Maybe Ask The Question When U Get Results 2 Double Check?
I asked my dr about this very same thing. He said being on BCP will affect some blood tests, such as testosterone and other hormone levels. He said that blood tests are just ONE of the factors in diagnosing PCOS. Your symptoms are what make you have PCOS, not just your hormone levels. Good luck!
I have had several tests done too - and I don't think there is a simple "test" for PCOS. THey will really collect all kinds of data and put that together ....but I'm not sure they are ever 100% sure...
