Default I need to go buy a book

and I was wondering if anyone could suggest one book that would be good to buy. I was just diagnosed on Monday, but have been researching it for 4 months. Any help would be great.

Hello

I'll tell you the book I have.......

A Womans Guide to Dealing with pcos - by Colette Harris. isbn 0-7225-3975-4
this is my favourite.

Then I also have Pcos - the Hidden Epidemic by Samuel Thatcher isbn 09449-34250. I personally find this book a bit 'technical'

Then there's another Colette Harris book - the Nutritional Approach to Dealing with pcos 0-000-713184-4 but that's not out until the end of the month (uk)

Hope this helps - pm me if you want

((hugs)) Eva

I have been suffering awhile, but only recently diagnosed.

I just purchased last evening:

The Doctor's Pocket Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter (2002 Color Editon)
includes Diabetes Diet Guides; 101 Fast-Food Chains & Restaurants Full Analysis and lots of tips on weight, exercise, fat and carbohydrates. Purse sized, but sturdy and nicely laid out. Written by Alan Borushek -- Author & Dietician. I paid $6.99 USD at Barnes and Nobles bookstore It states that you can get this book to download to a Palm Pilot also. Plus, there is a free website suppport with product food updates at www.calorieking.com

The Insulin=Resistance Diet by Cheryle R Hart, M.D. and Mary Kay Grossman, R.D.

Lots of info on Insulin Resistance, Syndrome X, carbohydrates, recipes and

Hope this is of some help to you! Good Luck!

Thank you both for the response...........I wen to Borders today, but they didn't have one book there about PCOS. They had a list of about 4 books that they said they could order for me, but I was frustrated that they didn't have a single book in the store, so I decided to look elsewhere. I haven't gone anywhere else yet, but I will keep you informed! Thanks again!!!

Default I also highly recommend the Harris book.

A Woman's Guide to Dealing with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
by Colette Harris and Dr. Adam Carey is definetely worth buying.

The beginning gives technical yet easy to understand info.
Toward the end of the book it gives you suggestions for many problems
and symptoms you may be dealing with.
I like it because it gives many suggestions without the use of medications.
Although I realize medications do help certain people.
Everyone is different.
If you are have trouble finding this book, try Barnes & Noble if you have one
near you. That is where I found this book and about 3 others.
Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find books on PCOS, much less good books on the
subject. Also, be cautious not to buy a book that is 100% technical. It can scare you
a little bit and talk about symptoms that you may not ever experience.

Take care and good luck on your book search.
