I'm trying to figure out what kind of diet to do but it seems like no matter which one I choose it doesn't work. So I was hoping that I could get some advice and and some help for which diet to choose.
I saw where someone had posted on here about a book about an insulin resistance diet. she said the book talked about balancing carbs and protein. and that she checked it out at the library before actually buying it. so you might try to find the post or the book lol sorry im not more help. best of luck!
What are your symptoms? What diets have you tried previously? I'm on the GI Diet. It consists of lean meats, eggs, fish, nuts, seeds, whole milk, yogurt, buckwheat, veggies & fruits.. I eat every two to three hours and drink loads of water during the day.

I have acne, weight gain a lot, irregular periods and hair growth, skin discolorations. I have tried the south beach diet and it didn't work. I'm leaning towards taking diet pills and i don't want to. I really don't know what other symptoms I have bc I haven't been to a doc since 2007

Find a good doctor in your area and get your hormone levels tested. It sounds like you are insulin resistant and your androgen levels are elevated. You should look into the GI Diet..
Avoid diet pills. They're just a quick fix. Try something like a carb controlled diet. You'd likely need around 45-60 grams of carbohydrate at each of 3 meals. If you snack in-between make it about 15 grams. Eat a source of protein every time you eat w/out going too much over 7-8 ounces each day. Eat lots of fresh veggies and use fresh fruit as some of your carbohydrate servings!
There is also other information if you do a search. You can also try taking saw palmetto and spearmint tea for your hair growth and acne.
Thank you for the help do you have any ideas on how to help with the skin discoloration ? I have it bad I have spots on my neck and underarms and It makes me feel dirty specially when ppl look at me like I have a disease.
Acanthosis Nigricans is the name of the dark spotting. I haven't studied it much, but Google it and I bet you'll find a lot of information. There is a lot out there.

Your welcome! From what I've read it's caused by insulin resistance so the GI Diet should help manage that. You can also try taking Gymena (for regulating blood sugar) & taking either Pine Bark or Grapeseed Extract Supplements (they are supposed to get rid of discoloration).
