Question I need help please

I was diagnosed in April with pcos, I have been taking 1000mg glucophage since then, Its been over a year since I had a period today I went to see a new gyno. and she prescribed prometruim to bring on af I'm supposed to take 1 pill a day for 12 days, she also said to start on the first of the month so I don't get confused. What should I expect while taking this, any side effects I do have high blood pressure so I'm a little concerned about that ,will it make my pressure worse? also am I supposed to take it every month from the 1st to the 12th. How long after taking the last pill before af arrives? If any of my systers has the answers please respond.

thanks
Rosi

Default PROMETRIUM

I too have been placed on Prometrium. This week as a matter of fact. My doctor informed me that I was to take it 12 days straight and preferrably take it at night before bed with a large glass of water. He says his biggest compaint has been drowsiness. That is why he recommends taking it at night. He says that I will probably begin my period before the 12 days are up and if I don't begin within 2 weeks after to call him. I hope this helps! I am a little worried about taking it too because I thought with PCOS that I had too much progesterone as it is. I am doing more research.

hi Karen,

thank you for your reply, the doctor that prescribed it to me was kind of rude, and would not explain to me anything, that is why I was kind of concerned, well I've been taking it for 3 days and so far so good, I was supposed to start on the first of the month to the 12th, but we are going on vacation on the 5th of August and I just wanted to take care of this before our vacation, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to you, hope everything goes well.

Wow, I can't believe both of your docs want you on it for 12 days each month!!! Yikes!

I've had four different docs give it to me to start AF and they were split 50/50...two of them had me take it for 5 days and the other two had me take it for 10 days.

Well, it doesn't do me very well in the side effect department so I decided that 5 days was good enough for me I get hot flashes, terrible mood swings and have a hard time sleeping on it. (similar to my clomid s/e).

My AF usually starts 2-3 days after my last pill, no matter how many days I've taken the pills but it can take up to two full weeks for some people.
