Default I need help...really sick and don't know why...

Hey ladies, I have really gotten sick and I don't know why. A few weeks to a month ago, I started feeling really drained. I went to see my endo and he ordered a lot of blood work, urine tests etc. Come to find out, I am anemic. This just all started recently because I've never been anemic before. Well, now I am running a little fever too. I am on Levemir, Byetta and metformin. Could any of these medicines be causing the anemia? I've asked several doctors and they all say no...I can't be sick right now...I've got too much going on. Thanks for your help.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am feeling better, but still running a low grade fever and still a little worn out. I wasn't hungry or wanting to eat anything much for a few days, but my appetite is slowly coming back too. I skipped my meds for a day and a half, but started them back this morning and added iron with my doctors approval. Still tired and everything else...I have noticed that this happens once every other month or so, but just not this bad....Anyone know what may be causing this? Could it just be stress?

I'm not sure who you see to manage your psorasis, but it is an autoimmune problem. I know when my immune system is ramping up for a flare, I run a low grade temp and feel just worn out. I'd sure let your doctor know.

Hey Annie.....My endo and my family doc both treat my psoriasis. My neck has been broken out for years and just doesn't want to heal. It almost clears up and then it gets worse. It drives me crazy. That is the only place I break out. Thanks for your response...

Flyfisher, I'm sure you know that your body has a harder time healing with Type II diabetes. Has you taken antiobiotics since you've been feeling badly? If you've got a fever, there's got to be a cause. Some diabetics (my Dad included) have to take antibiotics everytime they get sick because it always turns into an infection. With a low grade fever and feeling generally bad your glucose may be out of whack. Illness makes it harder for your body to control your glucose levels. That may be contributing to why you feel bad.

Since you've posted in the older cysters threads, I know I won't offend you if I ask whether the monthly feeling bad be related to your cycle, peri-menopause or menopause? Years ago, I contracted a really bad intestinal virus. For almost a year after that, I felt horrible around my period - very nauseated and tired. It never made any sense to me, and the doctor's answer was to put me on BCP, so I'm pretty sure it never made any sense to him either.

You need to get to the root of the low grade fever if it doesn't clear up. Your doctor should run some bloodwork to look for the cause.

Hey Josie...Thanks for your response. I am feeling better these days, but I am anemic. sometimes when I get really stressed and tired I run a low grade fever, but I've never felt the way I did...that was the strangest thing I've ever experienced before in my life. I spoke to my new endo today and he took me off byetta. I've been taking byetta and insulin. He said that it wasn't suppose to be used like that, so he took me off. (My old endo put me on it)...anyway, I mentioned to him about the fever and weakness feeling. He told me it could be related to it, but wasn't sure. I guess I will find out soon, because as of this afternoon I am off byetta. I am anemic and my iron is low too. I've never been anemic in my whole life. Its just strange because I've always been pretty healthy until I was dx as type 2. Oh, by the way, the weakness and tiredness was always around the time of my period. Usually the week of and the week after. I think it was because I am anemic...Just strange...Thanks for your help...

anemia can make you feel very worn out and tired, and then your immune system gets run down so it's easy for you to get sick. Heavy periods (or any loss of blood) could cause anemia.

Hey Stac...My son was severely anemic from the time he was 6 to the time he was 13 years old (he had two blood transfusions during that time) and he said he always felt the same way I did. I think my medications along with the high stress level I was under caused the anemia. The byetta seemed to cause a lot of stomach problems and may have caused some blood loss. At that time, my periods weren't that bad, so I doubt it was that. I was taken off the byetta back at the end of August. I feel so much better now. I've switched endos about the same time that the report about byetta came out. I called my new endo and he told me to get off byetta, so I did. Since I did I am feeling a lot better. I have also been put on iron and I think my blood counts have come back up also. I am thinking that the combination of insulin and byetta somehow caused me to be anemic, but not sure about that. Anyway, I'm feeling a lot better and I am glad. I still tire easily, but I have a lot more energy than I did a few weeks ago...thank you so much for your response.
