Question I need an outside opinion PLEASE!

Ok, I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, but I need opinions. About 6 months ago (or longer), I started getting an unexplainable cramping pain in my abdomen. I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound done and found out that I have ovarian cysts that the doctor says ARE NOT related at all to my IUD. They sent me home and I read about PCOS somewhere, and put 2 and 2 together. The same time that I got the pain from the cysts, I also got terrible acne (out of nowhere after having a great complection) on my face, upper chest, and upper back. I also started growing thick dark hair on my legs that needs to be shaved ever day, when normally I have super thin blonde hair that doesn't need shaved but once a month. I am now growing dark hair on my toes, fingers, belly button, and one or two on my upper lip. I made an appt to talk to my doctor about it and when I went in and told her all of this, she said that she wasn't really worried about it because I'm not the "picture candidate" because I'm not overweight. She then took me for another ultrasound and found that my large cyst had gone, but I have many smaller cysts on my ovary. She said they don't really look Policystic. She told me that she can run the tests if I wanted to, but she didn't think I needed to because I'm not overweight and because I have a 2 year old and a 10 month old. (I don't know if my periods are regular or not because I'm on the IUD and don't have any anymore). But I just started having these problems months after giving birth...is it not possible to get it after being fertile?! I didn't run the test, because I thought she knew what would be best, but now I'm still having cyst pains and my hair and acne is just as bad as ever (STILL! Grrr.) Should I get a second opinion or have the tests run just in case? Does it sound like there is a possibility that this is what I could have? I'm ready to finally figure this out...I'm so confused.

hey! im not overweight and i have pcos...i think you should do the tests and find out.
i started having pain almost two years before any cysts were found, my first pelvic ultrasound said i was perfectly normal and it wasnt until last month that i had another one done and had tons of cysts all over my ovaries... also my doctor said that you can have pcos and not even have cysts....i think u shud get some blood tests and all the other kind of tests u need and find out if you actually have it.

You don't have to be over weight to have pcos you also don't even have to have cysts to have pcos! I would get a second opinion from another doctor have them run blood tests to check your hormone levels. That's how they discovered I had pcos.

Well, I was diagnosed in 2003 with PCOS, and I have 3 kids all natural. Im 5'2" and weigh 128. I'm not overweight but I definitely have PCOS. I would get tests run, just to make sure. EIther go back to your same dr or a new one, but I'd get bloodwork done. Cysts come and go through out the month.... she couldve sonogramed u when they all started disappearing. but its also good to know that every woman has tiny cysts. The cyst is how the egg is pushed out during ovulation. And usually there are multiple small cysts on both ovaries during time of ovulation.... but only one will get big and pop out an egg.... well, usually.... LOL...

Thank you ladies for your help. I think that I am going to have it checked out by my doctor one more time before dismissing the possibility. And I'll tell her I would like the tests run also. Even if I don't have it...it's better to just rule it out I guess. I just have a weird gut feeling that this is what is wrong with me. Thank you again for your opinions..they are greatly appreciated!!!

Do you have the Mirena IUD? A lot of those things can be side effects of it. On the other hand, my endo believes that the Mirena triggered my PCOS to get out of control - I gained over 80 lbs in the year I had it. I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I could see it going either way.
