I hope I am not imposing! I am dropping in to ask for prayer for my sister! She had her little boy in Oct (#2) and when she went for her 6 week check up her b/p was up and he thought her thyroid was enlarged. He told her to see her pcp asap. Well she seen her pcp and he said her blood work was normal and it was probably benign swelling come back in a month. She was trying to get private insurance and waited until it came through to go back. Well she actually seen another physcian in the same group and he sent her to an endocrinologist. She went Wednesday and he did a biopsy. It is malignant. She is to have surgery on Monday that is all I know. This is my younger sister and I really do not know how to deal with this. But I will manage. I am just so worried about her!! Please just pray that everything is isolated and the can remove all of it. Please remember us in your prayers!! She is young with a young family and it is breaking my heart! Thanks for listening!

I will pray that they remove all the cancerous cells and for her to be healed, i will pray for your family to be strengthened and comforted through this time. First off thank you!! My sister went to see the surgeon today and she is to have surgery on Wednesday. It is Thyroid Cancer and they believe it is isolated and they should be able to get all of it!! Just wanted to update you!! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!

I am a 5 yr survivor of Thyroid cancer. I had my thyroid removed and also a lymph node. Mine wasn't an easy case, it spread to my lymph nodes, and i was told if it wasn't found when it was I would have been dead in a year. It was a fluke they found it. But, I am cancer free now and I do have to go for scans yearly, and I do and will take medicine for the rest of my life. But I am functioning. It is scary, but the rates are very good for thyroid cancer survival! I did have the radiation therapy after to kill the rest of the cells as well. A downside, I have NO metabolism now and I gain weight easily and have a hard time losing it. And for me, I can't get my levels right. But otherwise, things are going well. Tell your sister good luck! I hope all went well with the surgery!

Lilysprite Thank you!! Your story is encouraging. Cancer has such a scary terminal sound to it. It has been very hard to deal with just the thought of what could happen.
Update on my sister. She had surgery yesterday. They removed her thyroid, mass and surrounding tissue. We should have the path report friday or monday. At that point we will know what course of action will be taken. She should be able to come home today. When she is recovered they will do a pet scan to check and see if there is any activity anywhere else. Please cont to pray that God will have mercy and spare her. Pray that the cancer is isolated and we can endure whatever comes our way!!! Thanks guys for all your thoughts and prayers!!!
