You're welcome! Cancer is scary no matter what kind. I remember when I was told, I was scared to death. I am praying everything comes back w/ good results. If it was caught early chances are, the prognosis will be good! Recovery should be good, I know I felt like a truck hit me the first few days, but then I felt better. The only thing for me, I had my scan like 6 weeks later (they had to make sure all of the thyroid hormone was out of my system )and I had to go on a special diet free of iodine. During that time because I was below hypothyroid, I was so tired and weak all I wanted to do was sleep. But once I started my meds, I felt better but it took awhile.

sure, I have it, I honestly didn't know if you were allowed to post links here so I didn't, but here is the site name, www.thyca.org, they have lots of info, and you can also sign up to have support from a survivor and lots of stuff like that. I didn't do that, but I did find lots of info. Hope this helps! Also if you google thyroid cancer, you can find lots of sites, but I know the one I gave you is dependable!

My sis was called in to see her endo today for her results. She was
told "It's a problem that can be fixed". There were cancer cells in
the lymph node next to the mass. The opposite side of the Thyroid and
lymh nodes were clear. Once her thyroid levels are at an acceptable
level for the doctor he will proceed with a body scan. Once the scan
results are in a treatment plan will be developed. Everyone seemed
very optimistic at the appt. We are feeling much better about
everything. Please pray that she will continue to get good reports
and can soon put this all behind her. Thank you all for your thoughts
and prayers!!

Did they take out the lymph node w/ cancer cells? Did she have her whole thyroid removed? It sounds very promising. After the scan and she gets the all clear, usually the treatment is meds, bloodwork and repeat scans from time to time. I had a difficult time getting my meds right and even now my levels are off from time to time. I will continue to say prayers that things go well!

lily~~ yep they took the node and her whole thyroid!! We are hoping she doesn't have to have any radiation treatments!!!!!

I hope she is doing well. My whole thyroid and a nodule came out too. Honestly, the radioactive iodine wasn't that bad. (the worst was the special diet, and becoming completely hypothyroid) I had awful mood swings, I was beyond exhausted, I would just be awake one second and sound asleep another and I was very weak. It was a pill then a scan. But it was funny, these guys came in w/ these canisters and tongs and they like unsealed it and stood so far away. I had to stay overnight in the hospital and they actually scanned w/ a geiger counter to see if I was ok. because of the radiation.They also wouldn't come into the room. LOL. You know the first thing I did? After I went to the bathroom, I had to check if it glowed. LOL Oh well, I wish her good luck!

I'll keep your sister in my prayers and I hope she has a quick recovery with whatever treatments she has! *hugs* I know it isn't easy to watch a family member go through any of this..
