I think so. An ultrasound would still show cysts or no cysts. The blood test may have different results (as compared to how it would be if you weren't on the pill) because your levels may be affected by bcp. Better ask your doc, though.

I don't think you can check until you come off of BCP. When I was on BCP I was having pain on my right side during sex, so I had an u/s done. All that was seen was one large cyst. It wasn't until I came off of the pill that all of the symptoms came out and a internal u/s was done. I also had the bloodwork done then that confirmed that I had PCOS.

Whne I was on BCP I had no symptoms of PCOS cause the bcps controlled them.

I had an u/s done which was conclusive--none of my symptoms require more than bcp to keep them in check. It'll pretty much depend on the severity of your symptoms and the tests the doctor wants.

I had my lab tests done while on bcp's. The tests plus the symptoms and the ultrasound indicated pcos. Why don't you just ask your doctor?

My Endo wouldn't even do the normal PCOS blood test while I was on the pill. You can't really measure your hormone levels when you're on a pill that alters them. Same will bloodsugar actually. The pill can raise your fasting bloodsugar something crazy.

I have had to come off the pill to be properly diagnosed. I was put on it cos my doc at the time assumed I had it because of excess hair. But after my research I realised the hair could come from a few other things, so I had an U/s which showed the cysts, but still my current doc wasn't happy so I have come off and am getting all the tests done atm.

I was diagnosed while on the pill. My doctor told me that I had to have the blood work done during the placebo week. The pill alters the levels, but mine were still high enough during the placebo week to diagnose PCOS. The BCPs control the cysts, so an ultrasound may not show anything.
Ask your doctor though, they should be able to point you in the right direction!
This is very interesting, ladies. I think I stand corrected. I was diagnosed while on the Pill, and I'm 99% sure it wasn't during the sugar pill week. My FSH:LH ratio (or vice versa, can't remember the order) was 78:4. I wonder if I should ask my doctor about this.

My gyno ordered a blod test off the pill, then I went on and 3 months later, he ordered it again to see what the BCP's do for me. Then, when I came off to TTC, he took the blood again after two months off the pill. There is a difference. My insulin still was on the high side, but it was a lot lower when on BCP's. (27 without BCPs, 17 with BCPs) Plus, my total % free testosterone was lower on BCP's too.
So, you should ask you doctor what his intentions are with testing you whilst on BCP's.
