In 2004 I was told that I have PCOS this has been the toughest news for me to take in. I'm 24 years old and still considered newly weds since I've only been married for 1 year this month. I haven't got my menstrual cycle and looking for something to take since I don't have medical insurance I'm looking for things to get over the counter from herbs to pills but still no luck. I was reading about VITEX has anyone heard about this? Does it really work and if so where do I get it??? I really want to have a baby but its hard when I don't really have a sex drive its so difficult because my husband loves to make love but I just can't do it. I have a lot of the symtoms which some of them are just to hard...
Women with PCOS can have babies, but sometimes it takes a little more time and medical intervention. There's plenty of women on the pregnancy and mother boards who are proof.
Vitex works for some people and there are some threads in the alternative remedies about it. You should be able to get it at GNC or Whole Foods. Supposedly the tincture form works best, but many people have been having success with the pills as well. I have not used it myself.
My PCOS symptoms (except the ovulation part... so far) have responded really well to taking shots of apple cider vinegar (two tablespoons) before meals and eliminating all sugars and "white" carbohydrates from my diet.
Good luck! This is a great place to be and to find information to help!
I can't really answer your questions for you, but I wanted to welcome you to SoulCysters and suggest you check out the alternative Remedies or Other Medication boards. Hopefully you can find the information you're looking for.

Thank you for the warm welcomes! I'm really glad that I found this message board its so hard to keep thing bottled up and now I don't have to. I can speak to woman that can relate its hard talking to my family because they don't understand what I am going through. Thank you once again!
Welcome,
I understand how you feel. We all do. I also have irregular to no periods. My doctor had me on Prevera(? sp) and it makes you have a period when it is time. You can probably go to your family doctor and get it. I made it a year with no insurance and I know the feeling. Wondering if something is going to happen. Anyway, I don't think Prevera cost very much. You really need to get something done about the periods cause the lining builds up and in the long run it is worse(at least that is what my dr tells me.) I went for a while with no periods and then I bled all the time. I went and had a D&C done in July(no insurance) and it helped for a while but now I am not bleeding again. I will go back in April when our pre-existing kicks in and start over again.
My sex drive is in park also. Once there was a pill advertised on tv that helped with sex drive, I don't remember the name, I took it and it helped but it was just too costly.
I have not tried herb stores. DH just suffers with me on the sex part. I know it bothers him but he is very good and does not make me feel guilty about not wanting to have sex but when the mood hits it hits hard.
