For me that is a delicate area that reacts to wax (and also tweezing) in a negative way. I get awful red bumps and the hair grows in awkwardly, but no I didn't get more actual growth.
My hairs are very light in that area so I usually just go ahead and shave it every other day. It's quick and painless, but if you are able to wax the area without any problems I see no reason why you shouldn't do so.
