Question I need a Yasmin alternative - info needed.

i recently came off of yasmin - i'd been on it for over 2 years and it was fine for me. however, my medical insurance won't cover it now and so i had to come off of it. actually, my husband and i decided that we might as well take this opportunity to conceive lol.

however, IF i did want to go back on the pill, does anyone know of a BCP that's similar to yasmin (has similar ingredients) that might be covered by my insurance? i'm with kaiser, by the way. i can't believe that it's not available - i'm from the uk, the land of bad health service, but i could ALWAYS get yasmin. please, can someone help me, so that i can make plans for getting back on the pill later on?

after two months off of yasmin, i have noticed my symptoms worsening a little - facial hair is growing back a little thicker, head hair seems to be a little duller and thinner and my moods are horrible, though i'm hoping that part might settle down a bit.

There are a few other BCPs that are supposed to be goof for PCOS... Demulen and Orthonovum come to mind... there is a list in one of the stickies on how to pick a good BCP, maybe link to that article and see if any of the ones that look good are covered?

Can you get spironalactone/Aldactone with your pharmacy? The progestin part of Yasmin is derived from this. It's a diuretic but has anti-androgen effects. The amount in Yasmin is supposedly equal to 25mg of spriro. So if you could take another pill and a small dose of Spiro every day you might do well.

mix - I just went off Yasmin & spiro in March in my efforts ttc. Got pg right away but m/c in April. I loved Yasmin, and it was never on any formulary with any of my insurances over the last few years, but I just bought it and paid out of pocket.

I don't have any alternate suggestions, but I wanted to let you know I am also suffering a return of problems since going off Yasmin. More hair growth where I don't want it, losing hair where I do want it, acne returning, gained 10 lbs in one month with no change in diet! I wish we could take something that works as well while ttc!

My doctor was contemplating putting me on Yasmin, but based on my insurance, she is going to put me on something called Lo/Ovra. I don't know anything about it, but she said they have things in common...

I'm in Low-Ogestrel I like it.

Our govenor made a law in our state that Inusrance Companies HAVE to pay for BCP's. We're good little democrats here in Chicago alls I have to pay is 10 bucks a month---It's FANTASTIC---and I don't even have to get a letter from my doctor stating I'm on it for medical reasons!
