Angry I need your help - re: Yasmin

Hi Ladies! I am on my fourth day since starting Yasmin. I have worked up to 500 mg of met 2 times a day. I am adding the Yasmin after one month on that dose of met. I was doing and feeling great on the met. No side effects - (unless i eat something really greasy) but overall i felt really good.

Enter Yasmin - I am so nauseated that I can barely stand it. I get hungry but as soon as I eat I am totally blah! No throwing up but I sure feel like i could. I also feel relly tired and generally crappy. My endo warned me that it could take several months to get used to the Yasmin and to think of it like morning sickness - nausea/sickness for a purpose.

My question to you long-term and new Yasmin users: How long did it take to get used to this? I have NEVER been on birth control in my life so I am wondering if my body is just in shock actually having these hormones? Since it is only nausea so far - should I do like the dr. says and stick it out because the end result will be good?? I am a bad one for nausea and sickness. I am really wimpy and kind of hard to put up with when I don't feel well. DH might have a few hard months on his hands!!!

I'd love your opinions!!!!
Thanks so much!!!

Some people experience nausea on yasmin at first because of its higher estrogen and prog. I did and it never went away. For othersr I have read that it improves in a month or two. Best of Luck to you. Eat like when nauseas during preg. Small meals and crackers to stave off nausea is my best advice.

Take after meal and with lots of water. Sometimes having full tummy when you take them helps atleast I noticed that with Ortho Tri-cyclen. I have never taken Yasmin yet but plan to try it. I always have sickness the first pack I take after being away from pills.

Default It is a great pill!!!!

I am very pro Yasmin to those that want to use birth control pills. I have been taking it now for about 3 1/2 years. The first three months however, were very unpleasant. I was nauseated most of the time and terribly hungry. My stomach knawed to eat constantly ( a wierd side effect in my opinion). I just tried to ignore it! Anyway, after about three months things settled down and I found that it has worked very well with me. The main thing is that I cannot take it with Metformin. I take Met in the a.m. and the Yasmin at night. I don't have the nausea/or tiredness anymore and if I do I sleep it off. Try switching around the time you take it. You might find that is all you need. Good Luck! ( I lost about 10 lbs)With Gluc and Met 40 lbs total and I am where I need to be for my 5'0 frame!
