Unhappy i never seem to get a break!

i recently had my period for 5 weeks, then a week off, then had it for 3 weeks then another break. but my last period lasted 3 weeks and i had a break of 4 days with no bleeding but then everyday for the past two weeks, i have bled every day. its not really heavy but it is completly draining me. i am constantly off my work as i have no energy left but i am trying not to go to the docs as i am at hospital in two weeks time. to be honest, i knew about this appointment 6 months ago and ever since then, all hopes have been pinned on it. i think i am going to be so disappointed if nothing happens. i know they have to assess me, but i have a feeling i will get in and the doc will ask a few questions and make another appointment for examinations etc.

we never seem to get a break do we folks? x

Nellie, I get 12 to 16 day periods every month, sometimes with a few days of spotting thrown in. I once had it an entire month. At first, the docs thought it was the BCP I was on. They tried different types, a D+C, progesterone, extra estrogen with the pill. Nothing worked. I got off the pill and tried met. I now ovulate (alot of excess bleeding in PCOS can be caused by anovulatory cycles) BuT still have the periods. I am going through tests now to figure out why. Good luck to you, and remember to get your doctor to check your iron, as it is probably low and this does not help your overall energy. He can give you supplements. I recommend ferrous gluconate (not ferrous sulfate) as it is easier on the tummy and absorbs better. Good luck!
