I have been on Met for approx. 3 weeks (only been taking 1000mg for the past 3 nights). I don't have any insulin or weight problems.
Anyway...I thought I was going to as I was all crampy...I did a test on Monday and it was positive (two very dark lines) and then I did another yesterday (same time) and there was the faintest second line! Soooo....I am assuming the first test I did picked up my surge and I ovulated that night or the next day.
I have also been taking Chinese herbs for the past couple of weeks & having Acupuncture.
I am not sure if it is the Met or Acupuncture. Up until late last year I hadn't had a natural period in 8 years. With acupuncture I managed to have 3! I stopped last Nov though and haven't had one since.
First of all congrats on the O I started to O a few weeks after I started met too. I had also just lost a lot of weight too so its really hard to know what was responsible for what. I think it was met and taking care of myself. I am going to start taking some herbs this month too. Dong quai and Huang qi I think. What did you take? Anyway congrats again

Firstly, congrat's on your weight loss!!! I think that's fantastic and I hope you're feeling wonderful!
I don't know the exact name of my herbs. She makes them up at my consultation. I have to cook them up every evening for an hour and then drain them....taking a cup every evening and morning. Can I just say, they are terrible! It is so hard drinking them!
She changes the herb mixture depending on where I am at.
I just wish I knew if it was the herbs or met that made me Ovulate, it's really frustrating....
My acupuncturist is quite well known. In her office she has a large wall filled with photos of babies from her patients (even after ivf has failed).
I really hope this means I don't have to go on clomid!
I hope so, I've been waiting many many years I have taken herbs before, but for an unrelated issue and they really did work wonders. Hopefully this will work and you won't have to worry about clomid.

I honestly thought there was NO WAY it could work, especially since I hadn’t had a period in about 8-9 years! I persisted though. It took about 3-4 months before I got my first period. At the very least I saw it as a nice time to relax.
Is it possible? You're walking proof. Any time you're on a med that is altering hormones, anything is possible. Congrats and much success to you.

Diagnosed Sept 2005
Induced periods with Provera for 3 months
Currently 500mgs metformin, 1xdaily Evening Primrose Oil,
Vitex, and low carb diet.
Hair loss- Jojoba oil and rosemary oil therapy
Finally started 1000mgs of Met on Jan 26th, meanwhile no AF

I O'd...and got pg twice within a month of starting Met! With DD, I started Met at the beginning of Septemeber '03, and got my BFP at the end of September. I started taking it again (I stopped after my first trimester) two months after giving birth, and within a month I was pg with DS! Met has worked very quickly for me. It's my miracle med!
