Angry I swear my ovaries R goin 2 pop, constant Pain & Dr doesn’t care?

OK<
I haven’t been on in a while. We have too many things going on right now and not enough time to stop and worry about myself.

Long story short (if that is even possible
  • 4 periods in the last year & ½
  • 1st heavy period EVER on November 1st where I was changing an overnight aprox. every 40min. 3 days – I have always been kinda light (sorry, TMI)
  • no period since then
  • Dr. took me off of Metformin in Nov. because I was still steadily gaining weight
  • Put me on weight loss meds and I have lost 23lbs since November (said that he was more worried about getting some weight off first and then try MET again)
  • I have constant pain all the time, some worse than others but it is almost always my ovaries. They rotate which one will torture me on any given day
  • Horrible mood swings (my poor family)
  • Exhausted in the afternoons

I went to the Dr. today because I am so tired of hurting for 3 and 4 months at a time and besides being completely rude, she says that since I can’t take BC pills (they make me crazy), the only other options are
A) do another LAPER-OS to see if the adhesions are back and/or if I have fibroids
B) do a HYSTO

She went on and on about how my ovaries being swollen and covered in cyst are normal for PCOS and then tried to tell me that PCOS doesn’t cause pain. So, she didn’t know where it was coming from.

OK< I am about 10years short of my MD but, I know that isn’t even close to being true.
Besides the fact that I know my body and am sitting there telling her that IT IS MY OVARIES!!!!!!! THAT HURT!!!!!!!

SHE ordered a SONO & gave me a script for PROVERA so that I would go ahead & have a period.

and then

I requested a copy of my entire file and have started looking for a second opinion.

She told me that she was sure that my Ovaries were not going to POP and I told her that I might just be the first case because they sure feel like the are going to and that was all that mattered.

Sorry So Long,
Guess I just needed to vent to someone who would understand.
THANKS FOR READING!

1st...cute pic
2nd... your dr is a $#@&ing moron and it's good you're looking for a new one.
3rd...whether they pop or not the issue is that they feel like they will and you need help.
4th...PCOS can cause cysts...cysts can and typically do, cause pain...therefore PCOS causes pain

I'm sorry that you are going thru all this. Your first step is going to be to get away from this dr and get someone who earned their degree instead of finding it is a friggin box of cracker jack...

Feel better...

I totally believe you about the ovary pains. Aside from a host of emotional symptoms, my only real menstrual related symptoms was sudden onset of severe Mittelsmertz, or, ovulation pains. This was accompanied my bleeding mid cycle, also a new thing. My PCP did kind of poo poo my huge list of symptoms and reassured me it was nothign to worry about. I suspected PCOS and she said, no but if it makes you feel better you cansee an endo. So I did. And I do have PCOS. And since Metformin I have not have anymore ovulation pains/bleeding. In retrospect it felt like my poor lil ovaries were just trying so hard to burst a follicle that was getting sclerosed (hardening/thick covering) on my ovary. It was painful!

Default Popping Ovaries

Hi -

First of all - I can completely relate to the your pain. I experience pain in my lower left side that causes me to think my ovary is going to pop too. My boyfriend thinks that I am insane but I swear that one day it is going to happen. I also can relate to the doctors not caring and thinking that you are insane. I am at a complete loss and do not know what to do anymore.

Second of all - did you say that metformin made you gain weight? If so, please tell me more. I started on metformin 4 years ago for PCOS. I lost 10 pounds immediately. Today, however, I am steadily gaining weight despite exercising and eating correctly.

My new "enjoyment" is that my periods are irregular again (every 36-55 days) (they were regular w/ the metformin), and now I bleed during mid-cycle for 5 days with extreme pain, fatigue and nausea. Again, the doctors continue to disregard my concerns, but the mid-cycle bleeding and pain is getting worse.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom about this?

Thank you - I am new to the site.

Sabrina, sorry you are having such a hard time, and your doc seems so clueless. Glad you are looking for a new one.

I wasn't dx'd by my ob/gyn even though I clearly had all the symptoms, I was dx'd by my RE at the fertility clinic we go to. If it hadn't been for him I don't know how much longer it would have taken to get the right dx'd.

Good luck. I really hope you find a better doc who understands PCOS and understands what you are going through.

Are you ttc? If not, I usually take bcp to keep my ovaries "quiet." I understand ovary pain as I just finished a cycle of inj and dealt with overstimulation...wasn't comfortable. I immediately started prometrium to bring my estradiol levels down, to shrink the follies (way too many) and my ovaries.

Unhappy

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS!!

Yea, I am going to see if the radiology place can fit me in this morning cause I don't want to wait any longer. THE DR. DID MENTION SOMETHING ABOUT THERE MAYBE BEING FIBROIDS (sp) OR ADHEASIONS and those are not picked up by sono?

No, we are not TTC, BUT, have just started the Adoption process. We start our home study in March. We each have a DS by another merriage but want a little "PRINCESS".

When I took BCP, they made me completly CRAZY. You never knew if my mood was going to be up or down. I tried like 6 diff. kinds in over 8 years.

THANKS AGAIN FOR YALLS COMMENTS.

Heh. BCP make me crazy too. CRAZY! But I just wanted to say good for you on looking for a second opinion. Some doctors are just awful.

This sounds like my mom. She had a period for nine months straight and used to cry every night because of the pain. She constantly went to the doctors, and the doctor actually refered her to a psychologist saying it was all in her head. After months and months of struggle, they finally discovered huge cysts on her ovaries and she had surgeries to remove them.

I would recommend finding a new doctor or a specialist who will actually beleive you!! :s Doctors can be morons!

My ovaries hurt like hell about ten days before and until I get my period. It feels like there is popcorn "popping" in my uterus. Sometimes, I can even hear it go "pop," but it really just feels like someone is stabbing my and I am doubled over holding my stomach.

my idior doctor says that it is "middlesmirtz" or whatever thats called...but who knows, she really hasn't helped me all that much.
