Question i think i am going to bleed to death!

Ok so I have had my AF since April 19th. I started provera and it got worse. Today I called the doc and told him that i was going through a tampon in an a hour and it always leaks every where. They put me on bed rest and the nurse is going to talk with my doc. Should I be scared ? I am so tired and crampy ?

Any help would be great!

This is the first time this has every happened. I have ruined pants and cant sleep cause I have to say awake to control it.

Thanks ladies

hi tiff,
Yes I have being through having heavy bleeding for 18 weeks plus...
I would suggest to go up where your dr is and see him. or go to the hospital to see a dr.

Dont be scared, its hard to say not to be, but just be calm about it and dont use tampons, use pads so that you can keep track of whats happening..
its a bugger when you ruin pants cause of bleeding, i usually have old ones set aside for when this happens...

Hope everything settles for u...

I am sorry you are going through this, I ended up in emerg a few weeks ago and I ended up getting blood transfusion, because I bled so much and I started passing out. But mine was due to a continued miscarriage. But I would think that any type of bleeding like that is not normal, maybe you should just go to the hospital. I hope all works out for you

Do they have you on iron? As I feel sure you're anemic as all get out.

I've had really heavy, long cycles before. Not this long. But I'm sure if it was an emergency the nurse would have told you to go to the hospital rather than she'd talk to your dr. Not that that is much reassurance, I know.

Praying things get straightened out! Quick!

Definitely take it easy and rest. It would definitely not hurt to take some iron, either. Also, drink lots and lots of fluids.

I had some severe blood loss from a D&C after a miscarriage and ended up in the hospital for a transfusion. However, I lost a LOT of blood before it reached that point. If you start feeling really weak or faint, have someone take you to the ER before it gets bad, but hopefully, it'll slow down long before that happens.

I don't mean to scare you or anything, but it is good to keep track of it.

*HUGS* Good luck!

Oh no!! I'm sorry hun! If a doctor told me to go on bed rest I'd be a little worried. I hope everything is okay!

Hopefully, your nurse or doc can see you soon.
I had this problem when I had my IUD, so I'll share my tips:
1. Don't use tampons... they are pretty much worthless in this case. I recommend Always Maxi Pads, Maximum Protection with Flexi Wings (for sizes 14 plus). Here is a link so you can see a pic: http://www.drugstore.com/qxp70219_33...lexi_wings.htm
2. Drink salty fluids, like chicken broth or soup.
3. Take a multivitamin to help replace nutrients and iron.
4. Take ibuprofen (as directed on the bottle) to help slow the bleeding.
5. Get rest. If you can't sleep, recline on the couch or in a chair. Avoid doing heavy activity, and take it easy.
Hope this helps!

Almost 5 years ago I had this same problem. I had had light bleeding for about 2 and a half months, and then one night I started passing tons of huge clots, and going through big pads every hour. I was scared to death!!! first thought was that the light bleeding had been a pregnancy gone bad and i was miscarrying. not the case, fortunately. i was at the hospital all night and the dr gave me some progesterone. it did nothing. so then i went to my gyno and she said what i had been given was nowhere near enough. she gave me the depo shot to give me enough progesterone to stop it. Thank God it worked almost immediately. i must have gone through more a packa nd a half of pads in 2 days.

Hope all is well, and that they figure out what's wrong!

I think that too heavy is defined by going through a pad per hour, or 9 or more days of heavy flow.

Yes, I agree that a pad per hour is too heavy, but be mindful of yourself. If you begin to feel weak or dizzy or excessively sleepy, go to the ER.
