I typed all of this crap and lost it all....I AM SO PISSED!!!
Anyway, to sum it all up I was reading "taking charge of your fertility" last night and fell upon Hypothyroidism...I have had irregular periods for as long as I can remember, I was on BCP to reg but I got off to TTC...I was recently diagnosed with PCOS, but felt in my heart that it was a misdiagnosis....They saw the string of pearls, hormones were "out of wack" SLIGHTLY, I don't think they checked TSH (maybe they did), got some Metformin thrown at me, and was given an order to come back at the end on October...
I am pretty sure this is the right diagnosis...I have more symptoms...and I read somewhere that just because you have multiple cyst on your ovaries, doesn't mean you have PCOS...
I am not IR
I'm a thin cyster (well I'm 5'3, 126)
I have irregular menses
I have bad headaches, and often
Tingling sensation in hands
Low waking BBT
Dry pale skin
Muscle pains
Anybody experience any of these things?? I'm aware tha tI can have PCOS as well, but I read that the Dr was to rule all of these out before diagnoses of PCOS...Please help!

Are you taking any vitamins? PCOS can carry w/it some pretty severe vitamin deficiencies. (So can thyroid disease.)
I would recommend you bulk up on calcium, magnesium, vitamin d & zinc. You can get a nice pre-mixed balanced formula from Schiff in human-sized pills. Take up to 1000mg calcium daily (the others will be balanced accordingly if you take them pre-mixed).
That supplement in itself helps so many of us that it's not funny.. it has muscle, bone and joint benefits as well as assisting with reproductive health. It can even make PMS easier on you. It takes about 3 months to reach full effect so keep up with it every day.
Once you've been on the vitamins for a while, see if some of your symptoms don't go away.

I've never tried the Centrum before... I have a hard time finding a multivitamin that has the right balance of vitamins for me. They usually have such small concentrations of the important things, and tons of stuff I don't need.

You could definitely be hypothroid and have PCOS. My RE dx me with both at the same time. I am similar to you in that I am not IR, irregular AF, thin, typical string of pearls and pale skin. I was also suffering from fatigue and was always cold. I think some of my symptoms were related to PCOS and the others were due to being hypothyroid. If you're not sure if your TSH levels were checked, make sure you get them checked the next time you go to the doc. You want to make sure your thyroid is working properly bc it, too can have an effect on your fertility. Good luck.

I just want to throw out some lab values. Any help would be great. My LH ws 6.0 and FSH was 1.9 when tested. Free T3-3.39 and TSH-2.10 and last but not least Free T4 -1.02. I have had hair falling out for 3 yrs now and tingling and scalp tenderness started about 3 months ago. Oily skin yet regular periods. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance!
My LH ws 6.0 and FSH was 1.9 3 to 1 values indicate PCOS
Free T3-3.39 This is normal values for Free T3 should be 3.5-7.7 (YOURS is too LOW) this number needs to be in the middle to high end different for everyone
Website I got info off of is http://thyroid.about.com/cs/testsfor...d/a/freet3.htm
and TSH-2.10 Your TSH is in the normal range That range changed to .3 to 3 as of early 2003 BUT they should be looking at your FT3 and FT4 I think you need to be on meds, if drs were more aware of the numbers and what meds you need maybe we would be feeling human. Website I got that off of is http://thyroid.about.com/library/how...yroid-test.htm
and last but not least Free T4 -1.02 Free T4 If your doctor ran a test called Free T4, or Free Thyroxine, normal range is approximately 0.7 to 2.0. If your result was less than 0.7
(IMO yours is low) This number should also be in the middle to high range everyone needs different needs.
website I got this off of http://thyroid.about.com/library/how...yroid-test.htm
I just started taking Armour because I was making too much Free T4 (due to taking Levoxyl only) and my Free T 3 was low not making enough which means I need a T3/T4 combo, and it sounds like to me you do too, If I can be of any help with articles let me know I have a ton, I am currently trying to get my 4 yr old dd who is also hypo on Armour. GL to you.

I was in to see an endo a couple years ago with a list of things wrong with me who tested me and then dismissed me as not having hypothyroid and to come back when I had a real problem. I was not impressed. Shortly after that I was diagnosed with pcos from a better specialist but its now 4 years later and Im still feeling like there is some hypo thing going on with me.
my tsh level was 1.88
FT4 1.1
Triiodothyronine Free 3.3
My symptoms (and I know some of these could be just my pcos)
acne, hair loss, cold all the time, cold hands and feet, low BBT in the am around 97.6 and usually throughout the day too, irregular periods (too often, too long), joint and muscle pain, psoriasis, dry skin, painful fibrocystic breasts, sinus problems often, oily face and scalp, fatigue, some depression, brittle and bendy fingernails. there may be more im not thinking of at the moment.
Now I am not IR and am a thin cyster, 5'2 about 105lbs. My cholesterol level is actually low at 136. Cant use met because of the non IR status and bcps seem to make hair loss worse and kill my interest in sex. Spiro makes me itch like crazy so I think Im allergic to it...so thus far...nothing is working for me.
is it possible I have been not diagnosed properly with the hypo? Im thinking of seeing someone and having the tests run again but dont want to spend the money and time finding a good new doc if Im only going to be told ...hey its all in your head. I know its not. Does it sound to anyone else like I may be hypo?
moon I emailed you let me know if you need any help at all.
