I feel like a hypochondriac, but I found this site and thought it might be a good idea to post.
I am very hairy, all over and have always had period problems. I do have periods, but they are incredibly irregular, heavy and very painful. I also have abdominal pain most days. I also have very bad skin, all over. The only thing making me think it could be something else, is my weight - I have a bmi of 17.2
In my opinion, anytime you are worried or concerned about your health, you should see your dr. I almost felt the same way when I went and talked to my family dr, i kept blurting out my symptoms and she was like Ok, now lets do something about it. One thing i would suggest, before you go to a dr, call and ask them if they know anything about PCOS. The reason I say this is because if you go to a dr that knows NOTHING about it, they will blow you off, and try to make you think you are a hypochodriac. But if the dr knows about PCOS they are more apt to test you and see what is going on with you. I have all the same symptoms as you plus MY bmi is like 34.5 or 35.5 so I definitely have the weight added on too. I just got my blood work drawn and am waiting for the results.

I would have to agree with Seaglin,
Make sure that your dr knows about PCOS! I went to my family dr and he tested me neg. for PCOS but I insisted on seeing a gyn, and he did even more tests on me and tested me pos. for PCOS.

Pcos is a syndrome which means a collection of symptoms. You don't have to have the weight issue to have this. I have struggled with my weight off and on, but at this time I am maintaining an alright weight of about 135lbs. If you are really concerned, go to a doctor. And like the other posters, verify they are knowledgeable with this. I would personally try seeing an endocrinologist. You may be alright with a gp or gyn, but sometimes they don't truly know about pcos as much as they may think. This symptom deals with the endocrine symptom. You would want to make sure that they test your hormone levels. I always felt like a hypochondriac too before b/c I was going constantly to the gyn b/c of irregular cycles and pelvic pain. She would just put me on a bcp and if it didn't work, change the bcp. It took her almost 5 years b/f she mentioned pcos, and that was right after she did the blood work. Hope you get the answers you need!

Can't wait to start WW again and loose the other 15lbs I gained with the last pregnancy and the 30lbs I still needed to lose with the first one.

It's taken me all that time, but I finally found the courage to go to my Dr, and i'm off for a scan this month. Still not sure what's wrong, but at least i'm getting somewhere, so thanks all
