I posted a week ago asking about Metformin and short cycles because I experienced what appeared to be a very light period at cycle day 24. Light as in four days of spotting and one day of maybe light flow. Well, soon after this my breasts became very tender, I had some vertigo issues, and I was easily exhausted. I remembered from my pre-baby Clomid days that these were my symptoms of progesterone, which spikes after ovulation. But interpreting my spotting as a period ruled out ovulation, right? I was wrong!
I've been closely observing these symptoms for the past week. My breasts continued to get more tender and the other symptoms got worse. But the last two days things have started improving a bit. If I see the spotting as occuring at ovulation (which wouldn't surprise me given my polycystic ovaries and that this is probably my first ovulation since pre-pregnancy), then everything fits in place. I remember some "twinges" at the time spotting began, but I dismissed them because I thought my period was coming -- in retrospect, they remind me of the twinges I would feel near ovulation time. Progesterone reaches its highest point about 7 days after ovulation. That's exactly when I had my worst symptoms which are in line with progesterone. And if I did ovulate, this would be the time that the progesterone is tapering off, which seems accurate based on my symptoms.
If I'm right, my real period should start on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday (I can't be sure which day ovulation happened).
And if it does, then I will be overjoyed because it means I ovulated without Clomid, thanks to losing weight and Met.
So well see!

Just an update -- my period arrived 16 days after the time I believe I ovulated. And as I recall from when I ovulated pre-pregnancy, my luteal phase ranged from 14-16 days, so that's within what's normal for me. So while I can't prove without a doubt I ovulated, all signs point to having done so. We'll see what this next cycle brings.

If you mean are there other signs of progesterone other than what I reported/experienced, I think so. The ones I know about are these:
tender breasts
sore nipples
fatigue and drowsiness
constipation (prog causes digestion to slow down)
headache
water retention
nausea
raised basal body temperature
dry cervical mucus
mild depression and irritability *or* mild euphoria (I always felt good, not bad, with progesterone -- both after ovulation and while pregnant. I'm not sure why it is different for some people.)

I'm delighted to report that the Met and weight loss is really working for me! I ovulated again on my last cycle, despite travelling overseas, and my period began exactly 14 days later! Amazing!
