Question I think my thyroid is wacky.....help?

I come from a long line of people with thyroid disease. 10 ppl in my family have had there thyroids completely removed. Most of the rest are on thyroid meds, including my dad and ALL of his siblings. Here's the thing, they all tell me that there thyroid problems weren't picked up in blookwork, and I would have to have an u/s. Can this be true? What are all the symptom's? I just had bloodwork done for this last week at my obgyn. But nothing ever shows up. ??????????????

Allot of people have subclinical hypothyroidism, where the standard medical tests dont pick it up.You can monitor your thyroid function at home, with a simple thermometor.

they may be talking about the uptake scans, and stuff like that. they give you a little bit of RAI(i think, it's been a few months since the dr told me about it) and do an xray to see how your thyroid is using it. they can see what your thyroid is doing and if there are nodules and stuff. i did not have to have them done, but the dr said that it was one of the ways to figure out what is going on.
