Default I think something's wrong with my blood sugar...any opinions?

I have never been tested for insulin problems to my knowledge, but in the past month or so, I have been getting TERRIBLY shaky and sweaty when I get hungry. It's almost to the point that I have to run to the refrigerator and get carbs. I crave carbs when this happens. Once I eat, everything is fine. It's been happening almost everyday now, and I think there's something wrong with me. Any suggestions or opinions? I need to lose weight, just had a baby (weigh about 155), and have other mild symptoms of PCOS. I have been looking at some sites on natural remedies for high/low blood sugar, and I'd prefer to fix it naturally. I am so clueless as to this topic though, so I just have no idea. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have your dr check you, it sounds like your are hypoglyciemic....your blood suger goes really low. If your shaking and getting sweating thats a concern.

Curiosity how often do you eat and what do you eat?

I would suggest eating things such a protiens, and things that are high in simple sugars. eating a normal meal with a snack inbetween. Also get your self in to your dr. Write down what your eating, and the times and when your getting that feeling and the time, and what you eat to get it to stop take it with you to your dr's appointment.

but get in to your dr's this can be extreamly serious issue and can do serious damage just as much as having diabetes

I agree. Find out what is going on first, and then you can decide what to do about it.

Hey, you should ask your dr to do an 8 hour fasting glocose test & an Insulin level at the same time. that will rule out IR. If nothing comes back from that you should have the 5 hour gloucose tolorance test. If it is hypoglyciemia then you can controle it with diet & exersize, but if it is Insulin Resistance they may want to give you Metformin. I havent heard anything about controling IR with homeopathic stuff but it might. I have had IR for a long time but it wasn't noticable till after my DD was born & then it got steadly worse to the point if I didnt eat every 4 hours or so I was shakier then the paint mixing machines in hardware stores Metformin is not a lifetime drug you can go off it when your body recovers. Good Luck & tc

Are you taking any other meds? I agree with the other gals, when you are feeling shakey be sure to get some protein in you first. Also check with your dr, I am hypoglyciemic and that is exactly how I feel when my sugar (not eatting) gets low. It is important to eat every two to three hours, nothing huge, just some thing simple as suggested above.

I'm IR and not yet on any meds - things seem to be going pretty well with diet and exercise. For me, when I start feeling bad (and my symptoms are different from yours), I go for protein - preferably in the form of a protein shake because they're low prep and low carbs. If I load in carbs, I feel worse. But I agree, you definitely need to talk to a dr.; I didn't have all these problems until after DD was born, so having the baby may have knocked your body out of whack.

Wow--I had Hayden 8 months ago and the last month or so I've been feeling bad. Maybe that has something to do with it. I'm on effexor and ortho-tricyclin. I am a vegetarian, so I usually eat other sources of protein, but carbs are what gets me feeling better. I try to drink fresh vegetable juices whenever I can (once a day preferrably), but I haven't been eating fruits/veggies like I should. My diet has been mainly dairy, carbs, and protein substitutes.

Yep, I've got low blood sugar. I went to the doctor and he said my blood sugar was 80(at the time I only felt half sick) and said I should do the Sugar Busters diet. Any reviews on that? Thanks for the advice!! He also said to lose 25 pounds!!!
