I have taken the tests to see if I have PCOS. everything comes back normal which is great but frustrating since my doctors won't listen to me. I tell him my period is irregular, I have acne, I have excess body hair, oily scalp, basically the lists go on and on. So am I just a freak with too many problems?
Oh and every bc pill I try makes me sicker than a dog. Plus i forget to take them daily and I am at my wits end. I don't know what to do. I bleed lightly everyday. I stain my bedsheets, all my clothes. I have to go months without intercourse. Thank god my DH is understanding but it makes me feel so inadequate.
First of all I think you should get a new doctor. My doctor said you can have some of the symptoms and not others. Try to find a doctor that specializes in PCOS. I know that it is easier said then done but some women go through a lot of doctors until they find one that fits with them.
As BCP is concerned, have you tried the nuvaring? I would have 2 periods a month on the the pills. I tried a lot of different kinds and they didn't physically bother me but I was not happy bleeding for 2 weeks a month. My doc prescribed me the nuvaring and it was awesome. I went down to only bleeding 5 days a month. You can even skip periods if you decide you want to.
I hope you start to feel better soon. I know this all can be frustrating. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I agree with the finding a new doctor. My 1st dr dx me/w PCOS, proscribed me w/Provera and just sent me on my way, my 2nd dr did the same thing. Provera makes me sick, and both doctors told me I was basically making it up. So "today" (its 3am here) I am heading off to Dr. # 3. I have never been to a female gyno, so I am going to see what she says and go from there. And I have all the same symptoms you do, except for the light bleeding, I haven't had a period at all for almost 8 months.

I am very sorry for you. I was there at your situation and when I stopped my pill I didn't get a period for the next 14 months with occasional spotting and severe cramping with tender breasts and gained 60 pounds and became 197 lbs. Yes my worst period of my 26 years of life. Poor DH use to be scared to be home with my moods and emotional weeping.
Three doctors in a row told me that I am insulin resistant but didn't confirm I have PCOS. Then the 4 th doctore she's an endo put me on a met 500 mg. My mom-in-law came to visit us and was shocked to see me.
That's when I realised and started vigorous workout, cut out complete oil and sugar and lost 25 pounds in 4 months and got my real period. It's hard but I observed that cutting out sugar and fat with a religious workout helps a lot for PCOS. After seeing my improvement the endo gradually increased met to 1500 mg once before sleep now.
So don't get discouraged unitl you find a doctor even though you are in a good weight range workout a lot and eat right. PCOS responds to that very well, metformin definelty helps but it's not a wonder drug. Once on metformin our pitutary doesn't produce as much harmone as in a regular person so try avoiding with hard work.
Feel better
When you said your test results were normal, was that according to the dr., or did you see the results. I know that Kat has mentioned that sometimes test results that are considered normal really aren't. That may be something to look into. As for bcp, I can't tolerate any type. They give me all sorts of different symptoms depending on which one I'm on. I've had prolonged bleeding, mood swings (my dh was ready to move out), sickness, unable to eat, excessive weight gain, headaches, inability to sleep, etc.... I have also been unable to tolerate provara or met. So I'm getting stuff from the health store now, trying to watch my diet, and exercise (okay, tonight is my first time to exercise, but I have good intentions!). GL with finding a new dr.
