Points: 1,088.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 1,088.00 | I want to stop, 4 days after starting... So, I went to my doctor because of a nearly 30 day bleed... yikes I know! He diagnosed me as PCOS based on symptoms -- in fact, we sort of both said it at the same time - - I was saying, I think I may have... and he was saying, I think you have... so we are in agreement. Anyway, he put me on Loestrin 24, a special dosing, to stop the bleeding. That was the immediate concern.
He is very respectful of the fact that I like to do everything naturally, so he said he would prescribe Metformin if I wanted, or I could make another appointment in 8 weeks to see how much weight I have lost, how I was feeling, then re-evaluate then. I know the pill isn't natural obviously, but his first concern was getting a handle on the bleeding.
So, the special dosing he gave me for the LoEstrin24 was 4 pills the first day, two pills on day 2,3,4 and then 1 pill a day until placebo -- well, the bleeding stopped in a little over a day ... which of course, made me happy...
...but after reading all about this pill, I want to go off it. I am a holistic, naturally-minded person to begin with but I feel scared now!
My question: If I just stop taking it at the end of the pack, and don't continue.. do you think that would be okay? I had never experienced that long of a bleed in my life so maybe it was a freak thing? |

I'm not a fan of BCP, but I'm on it due to Endo (didn't want depo - yet & dont want to risk having another lap soon) and trying to get my body in shape to TTC. That said, I've had irregular bleeding for years (sometimes up to 6 months long), so for having it once and not wanting to do BCP and no other reason to go on to it, I don't blame you for thinking about quitting.
Anyways...my 2 cents. Good luck on your decision

I should lose a few more pounds before withdrawal bleed and I believe (for me) every pound I lose helps my body regulate even more.

My Mood: Points: 421.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 421.40 | 4 years ago I bled for a month and a half and bad. I missed a week and a half of work from it too. I felt like a prisioner in my home. The GYN I had at the time was all but accusing me of making up how bad I was bleeding so I went back to my family doc. She started me on met and that controlled things for the last 4 years. Last month I began to spot bleed for a few days and then nothing for a day or two and then back and forth so I finally asked for something more to be done. They put me on Previfem. Stopped the bleeding immediately and for 2 weeks I was happy. No bleeding. I could live a "normal" life. As I started week 3 I began a cycle and I knew it was going to be bad. Everything about it was horrible. I was told I have to wait 3 months to see if this BCP will regulate things but in the meantime I am dealing with being stuck at home. I am trying to start a relationship and I don't even feel comfortable going to see him for fear what this can do. I don't care for the side effects of BCP either but if it does regulate me, I am going to stick with it. I have had the long cycles and the painful cycles and I am just ready for a break. I would say before you stop the pack, ask you doc. I know communication with mine has been key. |
