Smile I would like to intoduce myself...
My name is Kristen and I am 22 years old. I have a very long story but I will try to condense it. I have had weight problems since I was 8 years old but no one ever thought anything of it. When I was 11 I started AF and she was a good friend until I was 17. At the age of 17 AF decided that she hated me and would not show up for months on end but she would send her friends (cramps, pain, and bloating) instead. And when she did visit she brought those three friends and her best friend anger. Acne was also a very frequent and violent visitor.

So at age 18 I went on The Pill and AF and I became good friends again and she dumped her other friends as well. Everything was fine until I decided that I just wanted AF only 4 times a year. The first 6 months was fine but the next 12 were horrible. AF would come whenever she felt like it and would stay as long as she wanted. I had enough and my doctor (Endocrinologist) took me off of the pill did blood tests and here I am.

I was diagnosed September 24, 2009 with PCOS/Insulin Resistance/Hypothyroid. I have just started on Metformin and Synthroid and will begin a low carb diet soon. This website has helped me immensely. I no longer feel alone with this and now know what is available to help me.

Starting Metformin: 1000mg a day for a month and 1500mg after the first month

Starting Synthroid: .05mg once a day.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! I haven't been on since thursday because I have gotten a touch of the stomach flu. I am a little overwhelmed and even though I do not plan to have kids for a long while I am really scared that it will never happen for me. I haven't started taking the Metformin yet because I am already sick with a stomach bug and I heard that it can make you sick as well.
