I've been having recurring diarrhea for the last few years (I know, I know, I shoulda seen a doc earlier!), and it's slowly gotten to the point where it's almost weekly/biweekly.
I saw my PCP last Wed, she's testing for everything under the sun. My blood count/sed rates are back---slightly elevated white blood cells (12.8 from CBC)/neutros (7.25 on differential), platelets (443), and a sed rate of 29. By themselves, nothing's THAT far from normal. But I don't like that all three of the main "inflammation" markers are elevated. Have any of you been diagnosed with something from similar labs?
Oddly enough, I haven't gotten my liver panel or any of the serum antibody tests. Anyone know how long those usually take to get back? I know the liver panel should have been in--it's been a week! I'm still waiting on all the celiac disease/food allergy type tests, I just turned in samples a few days ago.
I know I should wait before trying to figure anything out. But I don't wanna. Tell me your tummy trouble medical stories, and I'll keep updating as I hear back.

my RE says a lot of women with PCOS are wheat intollerant. i'm one of those women. its not full blown celiac but its definatley helped cutting wheat out of my diet.
I would call about the liver panel...they're so common you should have results by the next day tops. The serology is a different story though-most labs don't run them unless they're a big reference lab. Where I work the food allergy stuff is all sent to Mayo in MN, so I would give it maybe another week.
Your platelet # is fine, that really doesn't tell you anything inflammation wise..personally, my white count is always kind of elevated, and there's so many things that can make that go up. Did your Dr order a CRP (C reactive protein)? It's a lot more sensitive and specific test for inflammation than a sed rate, those are really antiquated. HTH!
me too!! i have ibs and am wheat intollerant as well. Like liz said - my endo clinic also told me that a lot of pcos women are better off without wheat.
