Question IBS help

Anyone else have it? What do you use to get rid of the pain? Right now I’m pretty much just on ibuprofen and T3's. And I get huge attacks every day and I have to wait 3 weeks to see my doctor. So any ideas would help. I'm also listing to a relaxation tape but it doesn’t seem to be helping at times.

I have it. And yeah, the pain sucks. Basically, my doctors are 'waiting for something new to come out' because there's nothing on the market to help me.

I have IBS with constipation, and I've found that the only thing that helps the constipation is really greasy pizza...somehow it seems the grease kind of lubricates the works. Sounds strange, but it works! The only thing that helps the pain is to go more often.

Good luck. Its an awful thing to deal with. I don't know how I'll ever get a real job - I have to spend hours in the bathroom sometimes.

Yeah i'll have to try that then. I spend the whole night in the bathroom on the weekend and it sucks.

I've had IBS since 2001, and i have to be honest i have tried every diet i can think of. Wheat free diets, fat free diets, organic diets and nothing has made a differents. I am always on the loo because of it. I can't eat food out because i also have GERD which cause terrible pain and "gas".
I am sorry i don't have any help for you. but hope you IBS starts to feel better soon. all i will say is i couldn't take ibro tablets for it because it was causing much more pain.

I have IBS-C. I take two fiber capsules per day, and eat Dannon Activia yogurt at least 3 times per week. Have had no trouble since I started this about 4months ago.

GI doc said the fiber is an absolute must, and it doesn't matter what kind. Just pick the product you think you can handle every day and follow the instructions on the box. I paid how much for him to tell me that!?! But it worked. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.

I had severe IBS in the past. What worked for me was a liquid breakfast. My IBS had a lot of gas and bloating along with alternating between C and D. I am now a vegetarian. I drink a protein shake for breakfast. Carbs (your typical morning food) were setting off my gut like crazy. Also, peppermint tea and fennel tea are anti-spasmodics. There is a website called eatingforibs.com. You can also buy teas and such there. I have tried a long list of stuff for my IBS and ultimately the day I switched to the liquid breakfast was the day that I started living my life again. I also think getting rid of the meat helped a lot, too. Especially red meat.

PM if you have any questions. Good luck.

I have this problem also. The Dr said there really weren't any good meds on the market for it right now. I did use the activia yogurt for a few weeks and I remember there was a difference (am going to use it again now).

I couldn't eat from the time I got up, until I got home from work because I never knew if it would hit after I ate or not. I hate not being able to go out and eat without knowing I can come home right afterward. It's pretty stressful and takes the joy out of even going to a fair or something and pigging out on the goodies. You always have to worry where the restroom is and if you can get there on time (not to mention I hate public ones).

I would try the activia and see if you have any luck. Hopefully someday they will come out with a good pill, till then I guess we will do the best we can.

I’m at the beginning of an attack and its driving me nuts I’ve taken every single pill that I can take right now for the pain and nothings working. I’m having some serious nausea and its driving me nuts. I’m at an end of this and I don’t know what to do.

I tried my meditation and breathing but it just wasn’t helping so I had to go for the meds and my mom me percocet as a last resort and that was at 9:00 pm and she said I was out like a light at 9:10. And I just got up now and its midnight lol
