Default Ibuprofen for long period

Hello all! On June 19 I started my period at the end of an anovulatory cycle (according to BBT) and on July 1 I was getting concerned because it was so heavy and had been the whole time. I was soaking a pad in about an hour and a half and I was having clots the size of my hand--10 or more per day. So, my Gyn called me in a RX for Provera 10mg for 10 days and I started the same day. The bleeding stopped, just a tiny bit of pink when I wiped for 9 days, then on the last day of Provera it started again. Now I've had 5 heavy clotty days again and it is really getting on my nerves! How long do women usually bleed after Provera? I've read that Ibuprofen can be used to slow the flow and clots and possibly make the bleeding stop sooner--anyone know if this will help? I'm really getting desperate here, the bleeding is keeping me from doing much of anything because I can't really leave the house. And my DH is on vacation from work and well, quite franky we'd like to have sex, lol!

Any help would be GREAT!!!

Jill

I wish I could help you, I just want to say that I'm in (almost) the same boat as you. I stopped Provera on Friday, but have been bleeding heavily since Thursday. DH and I feel the same, too... we really wanna have sex. LOL

I've been told that Provera thickens the lining of your uterus, so it makes sense that AF would be heavier because of that, but really, this is getting old.

I've been thinking about calling my doctor to ask her what I should expect. Maybe I'll just do that and let you know what she says.

EDIT: Well I just called the nurse, and she said that the bleeding after Provera should be like regular AF. She said that if it doesn't slow down by tomorrow or Wednesday, to give them a call. Today is day 5 for me, and by now it's probably day 7 or 8, right? You should call your doctor to find out what's going on.

Hope it helps! I wish I knew about the ibuprofen.

Thank you for the reply. I hope you have started to slow down by now.

I went ahead Saturday afternoon and took ibuprofen 600mg and about 2 hours later the clots had stopped. I took another ibuprofen 8hrs later, sat night, and woke up sunday to very light almost spotting. I took ibu. again sunday morning and evening and by that night it was completely gone. I really can't say if it was the ibuprofen or if it was just time for it to stop anyway, but at this point I am just thrilled it is gone!
