I started 500 mg 2 times a day on Friday and at first I didn't experience any side effects. However, since Monday evening the side effects have been kicking in (I think). My stomache has been queezy and I'm feeling a bit dizzy now. Did anyone's side effects kick in later on? (I expected at I would get them right away and they would get better over time)
Also, I'm getting a bit of a headache today. Is it ok to take something for this (e.g. tylonol) or not?
Lilacs~ If you are feeling dizzy and lightheaded you may want to call your doctor... it means that your sugar may be going too low, which might also explain a headache... I dont know what type of food you are eating, but consider making sure that you eat some type of protien with each meal as protien takes longer to break down and helps keep your sugar levels from dipping too low.

I want to agree with the above TDoern...and add, that it took a couple of days for the medicine to build up in my system before I started getting the side effects.
i was experincing the same symptoms. i was taking the met for about 3 days before i started feeling funny and it got increasingly worse. its been a week now and i'm starting to get back to normal. i'm on 850 for another week then im on 1700
I was talking to one of my lectures and he was saying that it will take your body some time to get use to ‘normal’ blood glucose levels and that why they may seem low when they are just really lower to what you are use to
I just went to 2x the 750 xr pills. Felt my s/e immediately. I hate glucophage but I have to deal with because it does work for me. I am on prescribed iron which causes constipation and the glucophage causes diariah(sp) so it is really I trip. You would think they would cancel each other out. No I just go from on to the other.
If you having side effects that intense I would contact my doctor...if everything is fine with your blood sugar and you aren't "bottoming out" or experiencing low blood sugar than I would go back down to 500mg and try to build up a little more slowly. Sometimes it can take a month or two to get to what level you need to take to effectively treat you, but every little bit in your system will help too. Feel better soon!
