Question I'd really appreciate your thoughts...questions...

Hi All,

Well, I've been thinking about this for a few days, and would really appreciate your thoughts!

I am on metformin for my PCOS, but largely to regulate my AF (which had gone AWOL, and is now making infrequent appearances) and also to help me shift 7 lbs that had stuck to my middle.

However, I am not IR, I have low cholesterol and my Liver Function tests are really low (just had results of a body MOT)

I spoke to my GP about my diet, and said that previously I had always been low GI, but since taking met...a couple of months now...I found it a bit harder, as my taste buds had totally changed.

She basically said it didn't matter in my case, as I am not IR - but obviously to eat as healthily as possible.

I've lost a few pounds on met, but still have 4 to go. Will low GI help? Or in my case, would it not make much difference? I can't exercise at the mo - but usually go to the gym 2/3 times a week, and I have a calorie reduced diet (anything from 1200 - 1600kcals a day, a bit more at weekends)and tend to eat wholegrain where possible.

Thing is, I still occasionally have pasta and baked pots. My tastebuds have changed so I don't eat sweets now, or drink soda of any kind, any coffee and only have chocolate (with nuts) at the w/e. But cereal, toast etc...I still like.

My consultant is away at the moment - so can't ask him, but would really appreciate your thoughts. It's mostly to just get back to my old weight, as I know the met if chasing AF along.

Thank you! Lara
