if clomid didn't work - what's next?

so far this cycle, cd17, clomid 50mg hasnt done anything :-( .
i am going back to the RE on friday where i will be moving either to femara and/or injectables (which freak me out a bit).

for those of you that clomid didnt work for on the first try - what was your next course of action??

I am in the same boat i did six cycle of clomid and nothing..now i am trying femara

Clomid 50mg did not work for me either, my RE had to bump me up to 100mg for my body to respond. This cycle it doesn't look like 100mg is doing the trick and it's going to be a bust, so they will be upping me to 150mg. Everyone is different, sometimes you just need a higher dosage.

50mg of clomid didn't work for me either this month. I went in for progesterone blood draw to see if I ovulated on cd21 but they said I hadn't. So they gave me a prescription for provera to bring about AF then they upped my clomid to 100mg. I'm hoping it will work, but worried that it won't.

Hey Ladies ...

Clomid didn't work for me either. I did Provera and that worked. And I was very excited that it worked. But then I did my Clomid and then it didn't work after 50mg. I had my blood taken on Nov. 20th and through the blood work (that only took a day to get done) my doctor said that it didn't work. My doctor was happy that Provera worked but now he is going to bump me up to 100mg of Clomid. Hopefully that will work. Because if it doesn't he says that we could do a number of things.

1. Bump it up higher one more time.

2. Drilling of the Ovaries.

3. Invitro

There are a couple options that I am forgetting. Does anyone else know which options I am forgetting?

(On a side note, I really REALLY appreciate you all. I've really been encouraged by your postings and the community that has been built at this soulcysters.com site. Thanks for all you are to me. Because it really has helped me. Thanks!)

well Clomid did work for me but i didnt o till late 17+ days. But i m/c at 7 wks now my REs got me doing Femara, and my RE was pissed my ob put my on clomid first. he said femara tends to work better for women with PCOS then clomid. I LOVE Femara compared to clomid. no side effects but sleepy and i ovulated so very much sooner the i did on clomid. I would diff give Femara a try first

I did 8 cycles of Clomid. One thing to keep in mind is that Clomid alone may not get you to ovulate. I did 4 cycles with the OBGYN and only ovulated on two of them. The RE immediately added an hcg trigger shot. When using this, your cycle is monitored. You go in for an u/s to make sure your ovaries are responding and building follicles. When they reach full maturity, you trigger so that they release. I dd 4 cycles of that and although I didn't get a BFP, I responded well. Now, I'm on the last day of my 2ww with my first injectables cycle. Injectables are usually the next step after Clomid. But 50mg is a very low dose.

50 mg is about the lowest dose of clomid you can take. A) You may be O'ing late. Clomid can sometimes cause that. B) I would either up your Clomid dose or switch to Femara before even considering injectables.

well this was my first clomid cycle and it was monitored, just no folllies to trigger as of yesterday morning. however over the last 24 hours ive had a lot of cramping in my ovaries so im starting to wonder if im just a later clomid O'er. my doc did say to come in on friday for another u/s to see whats going on. if nothing is going on i think he's going to prescribe femara and a higher dose of dexamethasone because i have high LH.

I had absolutly 0 responce from clomid. So after 2 cycles, one at 100mg a day and one at 200mg a day we moved to injectables. The Gonal-F pen. I absolutly love this medication lol. It is very easy and painless.and even better then that IT IS WORKING! My RE says we need to go very slowly with this medication. I get monitered every other day with BW & US. I have many eggs but ONE folical that is at 11mm, he was thrilled about that. He said now to job is to get the one to grow without development of 5 others lol, The last thing we want is Candice & Wayne Plus 8 ya know lol!! For my first round of ttc RE put me on 100mg of clomid and it did nothing so the DR went straight to femara and inj for my second cycle and it worked.

your RE sounds a lot like mine. he said i could go to gonal-F next also. unfortunately i have NO infertility coverage on my insurance and he said gonal-F is very expensive. i was soo upset when i left the office but later that day he called and left me a message saying they could donate it to me. he also said i have A LOT of eggs, i just dont get good follies or good egg production because i have high LH. mine also seems very concerned about multiple eggs. i wouldnt mind two at a time but no more than that

is gonal-f really painless? im totally freaked out by the injectables although DH said that he would do it for me.

Yes I agree with babydreamz when it comes to gonal-f being painless. I too was worried about the inj especially based on the days of my inj cycle I had to end up doing the shots myself at work. It was easy and pain free. I was also monitored with u/s everyother day when I started the inj to see how well my follies where doing.
