if you could only buy ONE book related to PCOS....
what would it be .. and why?
I've been doing some research and there are quite a few out there .... I am on a budget and would like to just get one (for now) really good book that covers the basics including diet and other ways to help balance these crazy hormones!
The Infertility Cure!!! Hands down I learned so much from this book, about me and what’s going on this my body!! I read it in a few days and I do not ever read!! I hate reading!! My husband was really starting to get worried HAHA
"pcos: the hidden epidemic" by samuel thatcher. its really scientific, you learn the entire workings of the endocrine system, but its explained well, even for non-science folks like me. i just learnt so much about this syndrome and how it works and why i have it. it has also helped me ask the right questions with my doctors.
Diagnosed Aug 2005. Symptoms: No periods, obese, excessive hair

Go to your library first! My local branch was able to get soooo many books, you might be surprised at what you can get that won't touch your budget at all Also, check places like Powells used books for good prices.

I've been reading "The Ultimate PCOS Handbook" by Colette Harris and Theresa Cheung, and I have to say it's AMAZING. It literally has answered every question I've had so far (I was just diagnosed a little over a week ago, but had done some research online before being diagnosed). Right now I'm just reading my copy from the library, but am seriously considering buying it to keep for all the hints and information (I'd like to be able to highlight for later use!) The authors are British, so there are some mentions of foods etc that aren't common in the US, but it's all great information and covers everything from diet, emotional issues, physical problems, etc.
I am currently reading "The Ultimate PCOS Handbook" too. A very easy read and quick introduction to PCOS. I am newly self-diagnosed so it was a very good introductory book for me.
Another vote for The Ultimate PCOS Handbook - but also a second vote for heading to your library and having a look at what is there - I always like browsing through books first, and sometimes I need bits from a few books to get what I really need.

Thanks for your response! Did you get the book 'The pcos workbook'? or the Dietician's guide? I am considering buying a copy of 'The pcos workbook' any comments on that book would be highly appreciated.
Thanks you!!
