I am only a week into this but based on my reading it seems that some loose on met and some don't. For those of you who did, did you do anything in addition to taking met? Also what dose of met do you take?

I've been on metformin for over a year, taking 1000mg. I've recently increased to 1500mg. I suggest working out in the morning on a empty stomach. I lost 40 pounds this way. Hope this helps
Hey I have been on Met for 3 months now (I came off last week due to S/e but back it on it now again and ok this time) and I have lost 14lb so far with exercising 3x per week (when i can!) and following the IR diet.

When I first started met I lost 4 lbs. the first week and 4 lbs. the second week. Then I started exercising in 30 min. 4 x's a week. I lost 17 lbs. then stopped loosing. I started a low gi diet in Jan. and have lost a total of 34 lbs. and counting. Definitely helps to watch the carbs and sugar and add exercise. Besides, that's what we need to be doing anyway.
HI there, I have lost close to 25 to 30 lbs on met and have been on it for more than a year. I am not trying to lose too much, I was 130lbs to start with. Adding weight training and watching the carbs closely helps a lot. My problem was "where" I had my wt. Face, tummy, arms- not the actually overall wt. I am pretty short so it didnt help me look "lean" Now I look and feel proportionate and am so glad for it!
I lost about 35-40 pounds while on met, prior to my last pregnancy. I was also working out 5 days a week, and eating a low carb diet. It was work, but I felt like the met helped me lose the way "normal" people do.
I'm back on met now, and am losing about a pound or so a week. Again, I'm eating a healthy lower carb diet (The Insulin Resistance Diet), and doing cardio and weight training 5-6 days a week.

M/C #2 Losing and getting fit with healthy eating and 60-90 mins of exercise 6X a week. (And loving it!)
Lost 50-ish pounds so far, 35-ish to go. ChaLEAN Extreme - Grad, Completed in March 09
P90X - Grad, Completed in June 09
Fitcysters Bootcamper - for every one we've had.
I've lost a total of 18 pounds since September on met 1500mg. Met got me the first 15 pounds. Since then I've just watched what I've been eating, and my weight has plateaued off. I'm actually at my goal weight right now.

I have been on met for 5 months. In that time I have lost roughly 40 pounds. For the first 2 months, I began working out at Curves, and watching what I ate, and I lost about 20 pounds. I then lost my motivation and didn't work out, and ate junk food for 6 weeks, but still managed to lose 12 pounds by some miracle. I then found my motivation again and have since lost about 8 pounds. I can definately tell a difference in the way my body reacts to foods. I have much more energy taking metformin. Even if a day passes that I don't eat as well as I should, I still feel the energy and I know that I am burning the calories instead of just storing it all fatigued the way I used to. Hope this helps!

Just think, if the world didn't suck, then we'd all fall off!
I've only been on Met for a little over a month (500 mg) and I believe I have lost a few pounds. This is mostly because the Met suppresses my appetite. I recently started exercising and hope this carries on!
