Default If you use Pantene!

Stop! NOW! I had been losing my hair for a while. It was pretty bad too. I could just run my hands through my hair 100 times and each time pull out 5-7 hairs.

I was reading around these boards one day when I saw it mentioned that Pantene causes hair loss. So I decided to do an experiment and stop using it. Its been about a week and now when I run my hands through my hair, I lose about one hair each time. Sometimes none at all!

If its not because of the fact that I'm not using Pantene, then the only other reason I can figure that its stopped is the fact that I'm on Levaquin for a vaginal infection. Maybe I have some kind of bacterial infection somewhere in my body that its treating, but that's very unlikely. I really think its just that Pantene is EVIL.

I'll be back to let you all know how my hair is doing after I've been off the antibiotics for a while.

Pantene is full of wax and fillers. It coats the hair really bad (imo) so what is it doing to the hair follicles....probably clogging them and making it easier to lose your hair. I am a stylist, and I HATE pantene. When people tell me that they use it, I want to scream....I am not sure it causes hairloss, but I can imagine that it may!

In my experience, if you can't afford to buy the professional stuff, get Herbal Essence, or Salon Selectives. I urge people NOT to use Suave OR Pantene...those are the worst!

I use the Walmart brand fake Pantene and love it. Hmmm... wonder if it does the same...

Great...I just bought some. LOL.

What about the stuff that John Frieda makes? I used some samples of the shampoo, conditioner, and something called "Shine Shock". My hair never felt so good, but at $6 for each..not happening any time soon. LOL.

I hate pantene. It sits on my hair and generally makes it feel less clean than before I washed my hair! I would believe that it makes hair fall out, simply because it doesnt seem to make it feel healthy! lol

Yuck, I hate pantene too! I used it for several months a few years ago, and it gave me horrible dandruff. I'd never had dandruff in my life.

I stopped using it and sure enough, it went away within a couple weeks and never came back. It's also so waxy, like pp said...makes your hair feel dirty and greasy much faster than normal.

I use either Lush or Philosophy. They cost more, but for me it's worth it.

I love Pantene. I have tried just about all the shampoos and conditioners from store brands to salons, and found that Pantene is the only one that thoroughly detangles my hair and leaves is soft.

Considering I've been using it for 15 years and only started having hairloss when I faced my onslaught of PCOS symptoms five years ago (hair loss, facial hair, etc), I don't attribute my hair loss to it.

And my husband just mentioned to me last week that my part is not nearly as wide now and the bald spot on the upper back of my head is much less noticeable.

Oh, and I've never had any problems with dandruff.

Interesting. I just went back to pantene and noticed that I've had way more dandruff than usual. I wonder if is responsible.

I have always used pantene and love it. All the hair stylist say to steer away from it because of the wax, but I don't care. I have had alot of hair falling out and breakage and I attribute that to my pcos and hormones. They say it is normal to lose about 10 or so strands a day but I lose it in clumps.
I was on a panel to try a new product which unbeknownst to me was made by pantene. I was pantened restoratives and it claimed to reduce breakage and fall out by 90%. I had no problem trying it since I like pantene. I seen an improvement the first week and by the end of the month it was a huge improvement! Even dh commented on how he wasn't seeing any huge clumps of hair in the tub lol!

It is now available in stores and I buy that, it comes in tubes rather than the bottles. I really can see a difference with that one. When I went back to my regular shampoo (still pantene and a clairol claryfying shampoo I use once a week to get the build-up off) within 2 weeks my hair started falling out again. But like I mentioned, I believe it has to do with my hormones and not Pantene.

Supposedly one of the ways it makes the hair feel so soft is it actually eats it away and makes it thinner. I read somewhere that it uses some really harsh detergents that are also used in industrial uses.

If you are using Pantene because it is cheap, I have had good luck with the Garnier Fructis line. I like the all-in-one, and I also use their gel and it does not dry my hair out.

I don't use it becasue it is cheap lol, if anything, from all the available store brand (not salon brands) pantene is on the higher price range. I am comparing that in price to let's say herbal essence, garnier, etc. $4.00per bottle is not cheap, well not to me anyways
